CPU Pegging

    CPU Pegging

    Problem:

    When I load Pinnacle TVCEnter Pro CPU utilitization jumps to 97% and sometimes pins to 100%.  When I shutdown Pinnacle TVCenter Pro CPU drops to 7% 

    Questions:

    1. Am I using the latest version software?

    2. Are there patches for this issue? 

    3. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

    4. Are there any Windows XP tweaks needed?

     

    Environment

    Computer and OS:

    Windows XP Professional

    Version 2002

    Service Pack 3

    Dell OPTIPLEX GX270

    Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHZ

    2.79 Ghz, 3.50 GB of RAM

    Software:

     Pinnacle TVCenter Pro

    Build 1903

    Version: 4.98.1903

    Hardware:

    PCTV HD Pro Stick

    Video Hardware:

    Radeon 9600 Series

    Driver ATI Technologies Inc

    Driver Date: 9/28/2007

    Driver Version: 8.421.0.0

    Does this cause any malfunction to Windows or TV Center Pro?

    I guess what you can do is to open Task Manager while TVC is open and then go to Processes tab, right click on TVC and then lower the priority. This may address it.

    Interesting, setting priority did nothing.  What I did do though was set CPU affinity to only one of the CPUs and that seems to have solved with CPU spike, at least on one of the CPUs.   I will let it run for a while and see if this fixes the intermittent short freezes.
