PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

So I bought this thing a month ago and at first it was awesome, but now I am experiencing lost connections and lagging video while watching tv. Also why recording sometimes the video will lag and screw up the whole video. Is there anything I can do to change this?

Also does anyone know how I can set it up so I can take the live video from my pctv to go and put it on my website and stream it "live" with windows media encoder? I have tried many free places for streaming live video and broadcasting but none of them recongize the video input from my pctv to go.

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

(The PCTV To Go forums are over here.)

The whole idea of PCTV To Go is to stream live video (both locally and over the Internet), so I'm guessing that there hasn't been much of an effort to make it stream to another program which will stream video locally and over the Internet.  That being said, if you're updated to the most recent firmware, try connecting to the PCTV To Go via RTSP://...THAT should give you more options than you currently have.

How do I find out what to put after RTSP://...?

    what is RTSP://...?

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

If you're using something that "speaks" RTSP, like the VLC player, for example, you point it at:

    rtsp://<your_PCTV's_ip_address>:554

I'll play with this some more over the weekend and see if I can be a bit more definitive...but bottom-line, it's a pretty poor substitute for the "as-delivered" streaming connection.

    What is RTSP?

I don't mind there being a delay or anything I just don't want to have to save the media and then upload it. I want if someone wants to watch just press play and he/she is watching things as they happen (with a delay)

Thanks for the help I will try that now, but is the pctv to go's ip the same as mine?

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

You can find your PCTV To Go's IP address by looking in the setup wizard.

I have my PCTV To Go's address set in my router so it'll always be assigned the same address.

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

So I download VLC, but I am having a problem when I try to connect it I get this message:

    Connection failed:

VLC could not connect to "my.pctv.to-go's.ip:554".

    Your input can't be opened:

VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://my.pctv.to-go's.ip'. Check the log for details.

(I replaced my.pctv.to-go's.ip with the ip address I found in my setup wizard. Also if this does works how will it let me embed it onto my website? I just want to be able to open up a stream session and begin streaming video to my website and then when I stop the streaming session exit out and there is no video playing on the site.

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

    1)  I think you don't need to say ":554" if you're using VLC -- that's the standard RTSP port, and I think it looks there by default.

    2)  That only works if you're on the most recent firmware.  Are you?  (See the PCTV To Go downloads page, and compare the version # there with the version# in the setup wizard).

    3)  No idea how to "embed" this into your website.  Never tried it, here.  I think you'd need some sort of player on the viewer's computer -- MAYBE an appropriate Windows Media Player can play RTSP (dunno), or MAYBE some sort of high-powered Java applet, but you're on your own to figure that one out.

I just got the PCTV To Go to place-shift my video.   I've never tried messing around with streaming...that might be better served by another, better-supported product.

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

Thanks for trying but its still not work. I would be happy if I could just visit a link in my web browser that people on my site can click on and watch what ever is streaming (if something is streaming.)

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

    Hi,

I have coders currently working on tests for media streaming. Hopefully up and running on my hosting service within the week. I'd be happy to provide you with a way of streaming it. (I assume you don't want everyone to know your personal streaming address).

Contact me if you are interested.

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

    I emailed you thanks.

Basically at this point I would be happy with anything. A video embeded into my site or a link that that brings you to the video stream. I just want to be able broadcast things by basically "taking" exactly what is happening on my pctv to go and putting on my website.

Re: PCTV TO GO HD WIRELESS Problems.

    I have some more questions.

I am having trouble hooking up my pctv to go with a remote so I can change chanels, is there a tut somewhere because I don't think my remote is listed.

Also is there a way to use this program:  http://www.myhava.com/havamobile_wm.html on my cell phone for my pctv to go?
