    ProBox Issue?

One of my clients uses Liquid 7.2 and I just upgraded them to the Pro with the break out box. I am not in front of the system so I cannot give the exact specs, but it’s a Dell XPS 710 workstation. It’s running XP-SP3 and using an Nvidia 512 DX10 video card. (I think its the 8800 GTX) I updated it to the DX10 patch. He is using it on a network with power-user rights.

    I'm having two problems.

1st It will not see any sources in the capture window but if I go into EZ capture it will see the S-Video but not component.

2nd It will not render dissolves.

    Any ideas?

    Re: ProBox Issue?

    1. Component is not supported in EZCapture.

    2. Inability to render means that the firewall does not have an exception for RM.EXE. Both that and the Liquid desktop need to have server rights in the firewall.

    3. Have you checked the connections tab in the Player section of the Liquid control panel to select the correct sources for the player you are trying to use?

    Lew, Thanks for responding.

Yes I have checked the connections tab and tried every option available but nothing shows up. Could it be the video card on the Dell system? And why can I see video in EZCapture but not in the Logging tool? btw I have a system here in my office that uses the BOB and I have no issues with it at all.

    Re: ProBox Issue?

First, try not overclocking the CPU. Also, make sure you have the latest nVidia drivers.

Second, try reinstalling Liquid over itself.

    Re: ProBox Issue?

Explain in what way it is not rendering. Are you talking about background render or export ? Does the render just not start, or does it seems to skipp the rendering ? or maybe you try playback out over the box and the transitions are not playing smoothley.

    Re: ProBox Issue?

When you put in a dissolve or fade out it wont even try to render and you cannot force it to render. It just stays yellow.

Now, that said, I must confess I am relaying to you what my client has told me. I did not see this problem on the system when I updated it to the pro box, but that’s because I did not try to render anything. But I have been on the phone with him trying to walk him through it.

What I did experience was the bob not working. I hope to be at their facility this week to address these issues. BTW This is a pretty high profile client; it’s the Oakland Raiders. They use the system to make an internal Highlight reel for the team when they win. So it will be good to get them up running properly. Good publicity?

    Thnx

Roland, about the OC, have you tested the CPU temp, my QX 6700 gets to hot when overclocking it to much, my maximum is 2900 cpu / 1150 fsb and the temp with my Zalman fan will be 64 degrees C, measured with the Gigabyte Easytune application, running it at 3400 will make it very hot.

    Re: ProBox Issue?

My system is OC and works great; the clients system is not OC. Its a completely stock Dell XPS710. No OC.

Ok, don´t want to get off topic here, just wanted to tell, good that your sys runs well, maybe it just is my sys, have you tried to measure the cpu temp on your machine, that is rather important as you are OC - ing it.

    Re: ProBox Issue?

Well, there are many variables that definitely change the temp, (hot office, hot day, to much equip running, - I put an AC unit right next to my systems) but on average it runs at about 64 degrees under normal load or while digitizing. But if I have a lot of rendering happening then it can get up to the low 70's. I get these measurements using the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool. But I have found, (after three MB’s) that some motherboards seem to do better on OC than others. When using the Gigabyte MB or the Asus MB if I got up into the mid to high 60-degree range they would become very unstable, but this MSI MB seems to do well even in the 70’s. (most of the time) But yes this is way off topic, maybe a new thread?
