Fixing "BUMPY" dvd recorded project??? Help!!!!

When I master my project to dvd I keep getting a bumpy video.  Like a skipped frame every two seconds.  It only happens

on burned dvd's.  The project looks fine when I master it to "a file" or "to tape."  But every single time I master it to a DVD I get a bumpy product.

Please anybody with any suggestions on how to solve this?   Thank YOU!!!!!

    Joe

    Hello Joe,

    Welcome to the forums

Kindly insert the blank DVD in Edit mode and then wait for 20 seconds before going to Make Movie.  Then click on Settings.  Use the following settings:

    Disc Type : DVD
    Audio Compression: PCM
    Video Quality : Automatic
    Use Progressive encoding: NOT CHECKED
    Always re-encode entire movie: Checked
Burn Options: Safe mode create disc content and then burn
Current Media: Should show if you have DVD-R or +R
    Target Media: DVD 4.7 GB
Disc Writer device: should say your burner
    Number of Copies: 1
    Write Speed: lowest possible.

Can you post your computer specifications when you post back for the results?

    Moving thread to Make Movie.

    CPU:

I have an emachine t6540.  I upgraded to over 1gb of ram and bought a new video card which solved the flickering problem I had when I mastered to "a file" and to "a tape."  Now I have the problem of bumpy dvd recordings.  Again, the file looks good when I burn it onto the desktop and to vhs.  Thank you!  i lok forward to hearing some fixes!  Thanks!  joe

Thank you for posting the information.

What Studio version do you have? What kind of videos are you working on? Have you tried burning another DVD using the procedures I gave in my last post? What happened?

Re: Fixing "BUMPY" dvd recorded project??? Help!!!!

I'm having similair results I think.  I'm using Studio 11.1...and never had this with 10+. After burning my project onto DVD, it plays nicely on a PC...but in a stand alone DVD player, it seems to jump and skip frames with and accelearted sounding audio (chipmunk voices).

I think I used the defaults when I burned the disk.  I'm away from that computer right now...but will be back in the morning when I get to my office.

Thank you!  I just downloaded it and will burn another disk, I'm also going to try one with a different audio compression.

     I'll report my results.

    Thank you, Rob

Re: Fixing "BUMPY" dvd recorded project??? Help!!!!

Hmmm..troubles!  I downloaded and ran the patch...then deleted my aux files and my disk content.  When I try to create the new disk content I get a message that it is too big for the media and that it will be truncated.

My project is 118 minutes on the time line and I'm using "automatic" video/disk  quality.  I'm using 4.7 GB DVD-R  (120 minutes) and  the create file/disk screen shows 119minutes used 2 minutes available quality= 44%.   I've tried all the selection for audio compression with the same "truncated" message.

     Any help?

Re: Fixing "BUMPY" dvd recorded project??? Help!!!!

     I found a fix...

I think the source of my problem was when I tried putting the menu at the end of the timeline. This worked fine inside Studio's DVD preview...but when I went to Make Disk...it caused the truncated problem where a message popped up stating that the project was larger than the Media (4.7GB DVD) and that it would be truncated. My project is 118 minutes on a 120 min DVD using "auto" quality.  While writing the disk image, the diskometer thingy showed that I had 2 minutes available ...so I continued.  After burning the DVD, I found that the Audio was truncated after a few minutes.

When I moved the Menu back to the front of the time line, this truncated problem was fixed and all 118 minutes burned and played fine.
