Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Magic Bullet does not show in the video effects library even though library I've uninstalled and reinstalled Studio 12 and the Bonus DVD multiple times.  I've searched the forum and seen similar problems for Liquid, but those fixes didn't work or didn't seem appropriate.  I've seen what looks to be like the same problem in French, German and Spanish, but my language skills aren't good enough to decode any of those.

     Anyone have any clues?

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

    Hello all

Have just installed S12 Ultimate upgrade via download and I have same issue. Magic Bullet Looks and Boris Grafitti do not show in video effects library. Unistalled and reinstalled with no change. System is good. See my specs and no warnings etc when loading. Do these effects have to be loaded from Bonus DVD and if so where do I get this from??

Have produced movie with no effort and imported old S11 project again with no problems.

    Would also like any advice

    Regards

    Keith

    Keith

You downloaded and installed both parts of the download?

    Does vitascene show up?

    Come on

Angry Do you think I would be so stupid not to download both parts? Now remembering to install both parts is another matter. EmbarrassedEmbarrassed

Works well. You can go back to work now and I'm off to bed with ared face.

Thanks a lot and may the sun shine on your team against SA today.

    Smile

As the best to hope for is a draw, sunshine is the last thing we need Wink

I'm not sure why the download needs to be in two parts. The Ultimate version is now different to the Plus version in the S11 Ultimate said S11 PLUS on the splash screen and at the top of the screen, but S12U now says ultimate. A number of people were confused by this. But it seems Ultimate isn't really Ultimate until you install the seconf file/disc.

    Enjoy S12!

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Not well. I tried online live chat help AND called tech support.  No help whatsoever.  Initial response was that my graphics card wasn't good enough.  I checked before buying it - NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT wtih 512mb ram.  They then had me update to the latest driver.  No change.  Then they had me uninstall/reinstall (which I had already doen several times).  No luck.

I have the upgrade discs   - it's not the download version.  Boris and vitascene both load and operate OK.

The magic bullet folders and files are on the computer and in the right places as far as I can tell, but studio will not see it in the effects list. Angry

Just to chip in with the fact that my 7600 (GS) 512mb runs Magic Bullet Looks just fine.

    Hi Doug,

This reminds me of a similar problem I had with Boris.

You have all the magic bullet folders?  Good.   Navigate to C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 12 Ultimate Plugins\MagicBullet.

In that folder you should find the file MBLooksStudio.exe    That's the Magic Bullet looks installer.  Try running it.

pinshel, that's great. You found the installer.

Too bad, I have to wait for a better card before I mess with Studio 12 again.

    Huh?

I did that.  Several times.  No change.

Um,  how do I check to see about shared vs dedicated memory on the video card?

Run dxdiag and click Save all information and save it. Open the file and you will see this under Display Devices.

Simple but true. Something may be stopping the installer operating correctly.

One thought.  Was Studio properly shut down at the time the MB installer was run directly from the Magic Bullet looks folder?

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Studio was not running any of the times I executed the install program directly from the folder.  Or when I installed it from the DVD.  Or when I re-installed it from the DVD.  Many times.

As best as I can tell, all of the files and folders associated with MB are where they are supposed to be.  I don't get any error messages on installation.

The only thing I can think is that there is some file somewhere, or perhaps something in the registry, that is corrupted, but I don't know how to completely remove studio from the registry after un-installing it.

There were some similar postings on the Liquid forum, but those fixes didn't help me.

FYI - I installed Studio 12 Ultimate from disc as an upgrade from 11 Ultimate, which was installed (from disc) as an upgrade from 9 Plus (9.4.3) which was installed (again, from disc) as an upgrade from the original Studio 9.

Here is the advance uninstall and reinstall (Section 2)

    http://pinnacle.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pinnacle.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=17553&p_created=1210883541

For regdelete, use the one for Studio 11 and select all appropriate products.

Before you do this, kindly post your dedicated video memory.

Um, that was a FAQ for content transfer, not advance uninstall etc.

Dedicated video mem - the graphics card has 512mb

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Sorry about the incorrect link. My CTRL button is acting up. Embarrassed

Here is the correct link. I hope. I doubled check. See Section 2.

Before you do this, please do the following:

    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 12 Ultimate \Plugins\RTFx\

    2. Move the folder MBLooksSE to the Desktop.

    3. Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Studio 12 Ultimate Plugins\Magic Bullet

    4. Restart the computer.

    5. Insert the Studio 12 Ultimate Disc. Browse for Magic Bullet and install this only.

    6. Restart one more time.

I did all that, still no success.  Will try the "advanced" uninstall/reinstall, but my hunch is that it won't work either.  In that event, how can I completely remove studio (version 9 thru 12) to include cleaning up the registry?  if I can do a fresh install from the beginning, that might help.

I already tried the "advanced" unistall.  Not very advanced IMHO.  No success.  BTW - there were no instuctions on how to regdelete studio 12.  Anyone got a link to the Studio 11 process?

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Back to the beginning: Go to: Studio Setup / Project Preferences & make sure both "Show Premium Content" & "Show Premium Features" are enabled. Magic Bullet should show after Bravo Studio Pack 2, in Video Effects. Done all that?

BTW, Magic Bullet works ok with my ATI X600 PCIe 256MB dedicated.

ADDED - IMO, Re-installing S12 Prog won't affect the Ultimate Plug-ins, since they have their own individual Installers, but I may be wrong.

If you have S12 Ultimate Upgrade Disks, then IMO, you should have a separate "Pinnacle Studio Ultimate plug-in Install CD". If you have & have already successfully Installed VitaScene & Boris but not Magic Bullet, Insert Plug-in CD & choose" Modify" & just Install RedGiant Magic Bullet again.

The progress bars on my plug-in Installer were a bit querky. So leave, untill completely finished.

Defragment your HDD before doing the above.

Done all that, multiple times. No effect.

This, I haven't tried. Will do so once I get home from work and let you all know. Time

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Well,  I have tried every suggestion given.  The latest (from Pinnacle Tech Support) had me completely uninstall, re-install my video driver, and then reinstall studio.  No change.  MB still does not show up in the effects library.  Boris and Vitascene do, and all my other effects transfered over from Studio 11 just fine.

I am completely confused.  Is there anyone out there who knows how to delete stuff from the registry?  That's the only thing left that I can think of.

Re: Magic Bullet does not show in Effects Library

Is there anyone out there who knows how to delete stuff from the registry?

Go to: Start / Search & enter: regedit. In Registry Editor go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software  / Red Giant Software / MagicBulletLooks.

I don't know if just Deleting the 1st of the last 2 Folders & then Re-Installing from Plugins Disk, will solve it.

I'm not a Registry Expert Editor & wouldn't recommend anyone attempting to Delete any Registry Entry, without the advice from someone, who is. The above is something to look at anyway, just for for consideration.

    Anyone-else?

One thing to look for. Browse the Ultimate installer. Does the MagicBullet folder has anything in it?
