I called Smartsound to ask a question and found out something interesting. As you well know Studio 12 was not able to load your Smartsound unless you did some very time consuming things. It was a real pain in the butt and took almost a half a day to do it. I was also informed by Smartsound that the next update for Studio will not allow you to use your Smartsound music. I find that really disturbing as I have a significant investment in this area. So far about $500.00 invested. He told me that Studio is now writing there own software and it's called Scorefitter. I have lived through all the versions and have stayed with Studio as all know it has been fustrating at best. I knew when Avid bought them that many things were going to change but this is one that will probally make me move to another editing software. Will I spend the money to redate all my music to Scorefitter? Not no but *ell no!

I think studio 13 will be really unlucky for Pinnacle if they drop support for smartsound, the word is leaking out, and I for one I'm willing to write all past Pinnicle reviewers to make sure they put this into there reviews of the next release should this happen. Money talks, and the lack of it talks even more.

This just reconfirms my reasoning never to by any studio addons that only work with studio, they can take it away just that easy. I find it totally amusing that one of the selling points of studio 12 was pinnacle is listing to you the customer with the fixes in 12. But are they really listing, or just saying one thing when it suites them.

Maybe Pinnacle will throw us a great carrot when they drop Smartsound support.  Ya, and pigs fly!
