Angry [:@] Capturing problem with S12 ultimate

AngryI upgraded from s11 to s12. I am using Canon H20 in HD. I am using XP sp3. I start capture and in about 2 minutes I get a constant sound over the speakers. then the blue screen. I turn off the sound card no blue screen. But the video is still jumpy. I have updated firmware mother board, sound card etc.... I have AMd 64 processor 3200+ 2.01 ghz, 1.00gb of ram and 2 hard drives 500gb. Thanks Don

I'm not very familiar with HD captures, especially on HDV captures. But with those specs are you able to capture previously without problems in S11?

IMO, you shouldn't be getting sound during Capture with DV-AVI. The sound is embedded in the Video Stream, whereas in AV Capture, it isn't. This was Disabled a long-time ago In Windows OS, to prevent dropped frames in DV-AVI Capture, although it can be enabled, via a complicated Registry hack, according to Skeeter (I think).

I'm pretty sure that Greg (gjslaw) has a Canon H20 & Posted exactly the same prob. I don't think he Posted his solution. Might be worth sending him a Private Message. In fact I'll send him one on your behalf. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

Yes, I have an HV20, but I don't recall having any problem like this one.

Actually, you do with HD capture from the HV20..  And the sound is not embedded in the video stream when capturing through Studio - it creates separate audio and video files.  The camera also plays back sound during capture - so I'm wondering if there is possibly a feedback problem with the audio.  (I don't have a clue if that is even possible.)

It is not unusual for the video preview to be jumpy during capture and for the sound to be OOS.  This is probably a function of your hardware's ability to process the HD video.

What video card do you have?

I will probably be doing a bunch of capturing over the weekend.  So, I'll report back any other observations that come to mind.
