Hi All, I am using Studio Quickstart (version 10.7).  I am new to the software but I have already created one successful dvd which plays back on my computer as well as both of my home dvd players.  My second project does not play back at all on any dvd player.  I checked the FAQ and I did confirm that the files are indeed on the dvd and the file sizes seem to correspond with what I would expect.  I did change slightly the setting on for the second dvd.  I found the quality of the image to be a little poor on the first, so for my second dvd I tried to modify the audio compression settin in order to allow for an increase in the bit rate and I set the flag for progressive coding.  Here is what I did:

The settings for the first dvd were :

• Disc Type: DVD
• Video Quality/Disc usage: Automatic quality
• Audio compresion:  PCM
• Use Progressive coding: No
• Always re-encode entire movie: No
• Burn Directly to Disc: Yes
• Target Media: DVD 4.7 GB
• Write Speed: 3x
• Image Type: Video_TS folder

The settings for the second dvd were:

• Disc Type: DVD
• Video Quality/Disc usage: Automatic quality
• Audio compresion:  MPA
• Use Progressive coding: Yes
• Always re-encode entire movie: No
• Burn Directly to Disc: Yes
• Target Media: DVD 4.7 GB
• Write Speed: 3x
• Image Type: Video_TS folder

Could the change in audio compression be the reason?  It seems wierd to me as I would have expected to have a problem only with the sound and not the whole dvd.  Before I waste anymore dvd's, can anyone tell me if you see that I did something wrong?!

Have you tried swithcing back to PCM?

I just tried the exact same settings (PCM) and it still didn't work.  What's going on???  This is really strange!  I have now wasted 3 dvd's.  All show the video files as they should be.  Could it be a problem with the dvd's themselves?  Tomorrow I will go out and buy some re-writable dvd's and try again.  But if that doesn't work, then I've spent alot of money for nothing!

1. Delete the auxiliary files before you render.

2. Render to disk and test there to see if works before putting it on a DVD. (I always to this because it prevents creating too many coasters and it helps keep my blood pressure down)

3. If it works on the hard drive, then use to burn the DVD and test again.

Let us know what happens as this will narrow the possible problems some what.

I would further suggest checking always re-encode the entire movie.

Seems to me you've tried putting everything back to how it was except progressive encoding. Have you tried switching that off?

Any feedback?
