I have had my PCTV HD Ultimate Stick for less than a week and the main problem is that I cannot receive the analog cable channels. The digital (ClearQAM) channels are received with very good quality. The analog channels are seen by the scan correctly but when they are selected for reception, act as though the signal strength is 0 or very low.
This morning I had a couple of hours to kill before going to work and decided to play around with the device.
Turned on the computer.
Opened MyComputer
Double clicked Drive G: (a drive on the device).
I had intended to explore the drive and poke around to see what I could learn. Instead, I had started the PCTV application. So I waited for the application to finish loading. When a picture came on, I noticed that it was channel 69. The interesting thing is that channel 69 is an analog channel. The picture was clear, the sound was good and that had never happened before. I tried some of the other analog channels and they all worked fine. I tried some of the digital channels, and they too worked fine. So I am thinking if I run the application that is on Drive G: It would work from now on.
I closed the application and then started it normally using the shortcut on the desktop. Same as before, no analog channel reception. I closed it and ran the application on Drive G:, still no analog reception. I tried double clicking the Drive G:, still no analog reception.
For the next several hours, I tried to reproduce the events that made it work and I could not. I even shut down the computer for 20 minutes thinking that the temperature may have played a part. Nothing worked still no analog channels.
I really wanted this device to work and I may keep it because of the fine job that it does with the digital channels especially the HD channels.
