How do I Mosaic a moving object in a scene?

    Hello all.

How do I Mosaic a moving object in a scene?  Need to keep an object "disguised" with mosaic as it moves in around in frame during a scene.  How?

You can do it, but it's a bit complicated.

Put your video on the primary track.
Put the same video on the overlay track.
Apply mosaic to the video on the overlay track.
Apply PIP to the video on the overlay track.
    Turn on key frames.
Adjust the cropping and centering on the PIP screen to just keep the mosaic on the subject.
It looks a little better if you use corner cropping.
Move the scrubber to the point where the subject moves.
Set a new key frame and adjust the PIP settings to cover the subject.

    Good luck.

There is a free plugin available here, http://plugins.loettgen.net/en/Studio10/studio10.html , that can do the mosaic without needing the overlay track. It does a number of different effects besides the mosaic. You would still have to keyframe the movement since Studio doesn't have tracking ability.

The S10 version will work on S11, not sure if the installation files need to be moved around.

    The one named Spot, http://plugins.loettgen.net/en/Studio10/spot.html

It has 6 different spots, and 5 parameters like mosaic, blur, etc.

I think he wanted to do a spot mosaic on a moving object within a scene. Does your RTFX Mosaic allow you to do that, Mark?

Re: How do I Mosaic a moving object in a scene?

No. It actually does the whole screen. For a spot though, one can have the main track as video 1. Place the same video on track 2. Add PIP so that only the part to be mosaic'd is shown (use crop but not size). Then, add mosaic from RTFX. JUst tried it in S12 and it works.
