I have Studio 12 installed and I have my bonus dvd from studio 10.
I tried to install the bonus dvd and it stopped! saying I must have at least studio 10 on my system.
How can I install this so I can use it with studio 12?

does that mean I have to uninstall s12, then re-install s10 and the bonus dvd, then re-install s12 and import the stuff from s10? I did a reformat a couple of months back and just installed s11. I never bothered install the bonus dvd I got with s10 as I knew s12 was on the way.

Isn't the OP saying that he can't install the S10 Bonus DVD because
S10 is not installed on his machine? He has S11 installed (and
also S12). Under this scenario, will the S10 Bonus DVD
install?. (I've never seen anyone ask this question before.)
Presumably he has the S11 Bonus DVD that would install. Or maybe
not, if he only has the upgrade? In any event, if he can't install the bonus material, the S12 transfer wizard isn't going to be of any use. Or are you saying that the transfer wizard can install from a disc, if you don't have it installed on the machine? If the transfer wizard sees the S11 installation, will it give an option to transfer from S10?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Marc P.:The transfer wizard should be able to allow the installation even if Studio 10 is not installed. I would assume that the transfer wizard should be able to do so.
It would not work for me Mark hence all my whining about the transfer wizard not working. What surprises the hell out of me is that all those transitions where just sitting there on the machine but the wizard chose not to move them. I have a folder of transitions that I built and given how the xfer wizard is supposed to work, it will never transfer them since they are not on any disk. All I can say is that if I had to start from scratch, thank god for backups!!! Jerry

Actually, the transfer wizard will basically tell the computer to allow the install of the Bonus DVD without the previous version installed. No special thing here.
Once installed, it then look for it and tell Studio to use it.
Jerry, you may want to try doing the transfer 2-3 times as this worked for others.

Marc, The truth of the matter is that I probably spent less time moving everything manually than screwing around with the transfer wizard. Besides, it was NEVER going to move the transitions that I had created in HFX! BTW, for whatever reason, at least some of the old menu items were not transfered either. I discovered that when I converted a v11 project to v12 and a menu button could not be found. Again, manual worked fine.
From my point view, the wizard probably works fine for a clean install but for an in-place update, it is severely broken. It should take everything from the previous installation and move it - no ifs ands or buts. Jerry

I'm sorry that you had to resort to a manual fix. But just for reference how did you do it?

Marc P.:I'm sorry that you had to resort to a manual fix. But just for reference how did you do it?
When finesse fails, resort to brute force Here (probably the last entry) is what I did. Note the striking resemblance to the fix for modified/new HFX's not appearing in the menus for version 11. The most time was spent finding where the new folders and files were. Once I had those, the fix went very quickly. I have to admit that I ran out of patience with the transfer wizard so perhaps it would have worked if I kept flailing away.
BTW, for clarity, I uninstalled Studio v11 but did not uninstall any the bonus material. I suspect that is the main reason everything was just sitting there in it's old home. If I had removed them, the backup disk would have been the next option. Some observations: 1. For a true clean install, the transfer wizard is the only thing that will work (exception below).
2. For an update, the existing files should just be copied to where ever they are needed. The transfer wizard is a waste of time for this. 3. If I was doing a clean install, I would still skip the wizard and rely on my backup disks and a manual install if at all possible. The time saved is significant! (Now that I know where everything is, I would estimate I could "install" everything in less than 3 minutes)
4. For "homemade" effects, you are screwed unless you have them backed up because the wizard ain't gonna touch 'em! Jerry

Maybe i'm in the wrong thread here, but I have installed 12 Ultimate and transferred my bonus over from studio 11 Ultimate, everything appears to be working (touch wood). Is it now safe for me to uninstall the bonus DVD from the add remove progams?
Thanks
Paul.
