Liquid to Media Composer 3.0 upgrade offer details REPLYS

So I see that AVID is offering an upgrade path.  I see a price for Liquid and Xpress but there doesn't seem to be a price for PRO, CHROME, or XE owners.  The $495.00 upgrade is the full price for Xpress owners. That is what people paid for Liquid in the first place.  To get into a $2500.00 package (that was $5000) for a long time AVID product (Xpress) seems reasonable.  The $1500 upgrade price for Liquid seems OK considering you are getting all your investment back for Liquid plus $500.  What I expected was a better upgrade deal for those who have supported Pinnacle and then AVID with their CHROME and PRO systems.  No where does it mention what the upgrade deal is for those products.  Is it the same $1500?  PRO cost more than Liquid Edition and Chrome HD with their extra IO options was way more.

I have switched to FCP and still ues my Chrome HD system for some edits.  I would consider upgrading to Composer just to get the Blu-Ray options but right now I don't see that this is a deal worth taking advantage of.

    Avid are you listening???

    Bob,

As always, I have to say that I love Liquid and really hate to leave it, having used it since it was introduced. I'm begining to think they sold Chrome HD to you and me and no one else. I have been using/testing FCP on a laptop and have ordered a desktop system. My expectation is that FCP is a core product and will always be updated, and I won't be left hanging again, plus pretty much everyone I know around here who has their own system has FCP and it makes me more compatible.

And my contribution to AVID for Chrome HD was enough for this lifetime.

While I completely understand the situation, I must admit that this thread makes me Sad.  These are two great people and Editors.

I believe a portion of AL users are going to go somewhere else. I am looking at Mac only because it can run MC and FCP.

Not until end of year when I go HD.

    Bob,

Avid listened and has offered a $1000 US credit/discount for registered Liquid users toward the purchase of any Media Composer family product.  If you need clarification, email marianna_montague@avid.com directly with your questions.

No.  I hope you sell a lot so I can unload my worthless Avid stock but $1000 credit is an insult.  Chrome HD had way more features than Xpress and cost more to boot.  This whole thing reminds me of discreet killing off edit and then offering a poor upgrade path to flame.  I'm out of here!!

I would have replyed earlier but this forum was infected.  à propos
