I've frequently used my Chrome HD to make dubs, for example from dvcam to betacam, simply by looping through using the logging tool. I'm trying to do the same with my ex-1 - go in through the HD-SDI and out through whatever (hopefully SDI) into a dvcam deck, which I normally do use as SDI. The audio loops from the HD-SDI, the video doesn't, to any output I've tried.

Is it possible to do this?  Any suggestions on how?

I'm wondering if the Cinewave card can support a down-convert on-the-fly... (I'm not sure as I've never used one...) I know that Chrome Xe will allow for HD-SDI out on one output and SD-SDI out on the other from the timeline (great for HDCAM and Digibeta dubs at the same time!!) but that's a facility built into the AJA hardware rather than liquid... Your previous success may have had to do that it was just a format conv. - with the resolution remaining at SD 720x576 (or 480 depending on your location...) rather than having to to do an on-the-fly rescaling from 1920x1080 down to 720x'whatever'.......

I've no direct experience either but freestanding devices that do HD SDI to SDI downconversion are not cheap. My PDW-F75 can do this but it was priced like a device that ought to be able to do it.

At $8,000 the Chrome HD box is also priced like something that should do it. I was just hoping someone might know. Thanks for the replies, in any case.
