Hi, whenever i try to burn a movie to a DVD it starts rendering, but then "hangs" at random spots in the video, usually at random spots during this 1 clip that is about 4 min. long. i've tried to burn it dozens of ways, and times but nothing seems to work. My movie is 67 min. long, and i am burning on to a 4.7 GB DVD, at about 50% quality. I am trying to get it to stop ""hanging"" at random spots in the video. Any suggestions?

What version of Studio are you using?

If you make an image to HDD first, does the hang happen while the image is created or when the burning has started.

Thx jjn for your helpful post, but i dont have any Menus on my project i created. my only problem is that my video keeps stopping at different parts in the video while rendering, usually one a certain clip, but if it gets pst that it stops somewhere else. Anyone else have any more suggestions?

Expand TimeLine & look for any gap(s). If yes, Drop a Standard Transition into gap(s) & Delete. Gap(s) should close.

The problem is that the  "hangs" dont stop in between clips, they usually stop during the clips. Thanks though.

In that case, try Rendering to File AVI. If that works, Import it, for Rendering to DVD.

Also, If you have NeroVision Express, you can Import the AVI  & go straight to "Burn". 

i have tried that, it  hangs on that too, but right now i am burning to a disk and it looks like it actually make it!

Keep us posted if the burn completes.

ok, i have good news and bad news. The DVD burned sucessfully!!!! but, it wont work on all but one of my DVD players. why? most of my other pinnacle projects work on my DVD players, but not this one. is it because the project was too big for the disk? should i try an 8 GB disk instead of 4? Thank You

Did you change the type (or brand) of blank DVD?

If it fits, it fits.... 

You might want to try lowering the burn speed? 

No, i always have used DVD-R and it works perfectly with all my other Pinnacle projects. but the project im doing right now is about 70 Min., and it barely fit on my 4.7 GB disk at 87% quality. i burn other projects that i have done and tried them in my DVD player, but it seems its just this one that wont work in my player. it actually works in my DVD player in my car. but thats the only one that i have tried it on that works. could it be that the Disk size is too small? should i use 8 GB disks for large projects like that? would that solve it?

IMHO I don't think that is the issue, but with Studio, you never can tell.

I burn many discs with over 90 mins of material on them, and they are no less compatible that discs with only 50 mins on them.

I think you need to look at the project and try one of the pre-render solutions suggested in  order to find whatever corruption is causing the issue.

Try doing a safe mode burn to an RW disc and try playing it on a player that will not read your previous burn.

After reading most of this thread, I only have one question..... (and maybe I missed this somewhere)....... Have you tried deleting your Auxiliary Files right before rendering? 

Anytime, and I mean anytime, my render hangs or does something 'stupid', I can fix the problem by deleting my auxiliary files. 
Just a thought.  

ok, thx for the tips everyone.  i will keep trying. i usually delete my auxillary files, but havent done it for quite some time. ill try doing a safe mode burn too. what im doing right now is im just creating the DVD content then im going to try to burn with a program such as Nero. ill keep you guys posted
