    Ideas needed for class video

I have offered to make a video, burned to DVD for my son's 8th grade class...many of these kids have been at this school since kindergarten and they will be "graduating" in early June.  I have some video clips and many still photos.  Last night their teacher asked if I would be able to also incorporate some other projects they are working on -- very short bios of each student, their favorite memory of the school, most embarrassing moment, etc.  Those are being typed up by the kids in Microsoft Word.  How would I best incorporate those into my project?  I'm thinking that I would have a photo of each kid with their name as a title overlay, then fade into their bio and other info.  I doubt I can simply bring a Word file into Studio.  I could print them out, scan and save each as a JPEG, but hoped there might be something a little more elegant.

I am currently on ver. 9.4.3 (and will not go into the headaches I've encountered lately), but just ordered an upgrade to 11 (Plus), so am hoping that will improve things.

Thanks for any help or ideas anyone can give!  And, if this was not the proper place for this post, please let me know where I should be asking this.

You might want to try printing different fonts to scan to see how they look Ariel is good for video. Also, make sure you scan at a high resolution but using 9.4 will still probably pixelate the fonts. If you try and scan the fonts at the default 12 pt in word they will probably be to small to read once imported into Studio.

Thanks -- I will give that a try.  I have another question along those same lines.  Since I've had some issues in Studio 9, would it make things easier for the program (as far as rendering), if instead of title overlays, I simply added text boxes to my still pictures via my photo editing software and used those instead?  The only thing about that is if I add pan and zoom to the picture the title won't be static, but I suppose that really isn't a problem.

Are these bios going to be presented on their original backgrounds or as overlays on the photos of each person? That makes a difference. I've worked extensively with 9.3.5 and I've created four videos with thousands of drawings I created with an old draw program called Sierra Publisher 99. Working with to many title overlays will be taxing for any version of S9. I would strongly suggest that after you made a few edits to get into the habit of hitting Clt and S to save the work you've done. That simple move will save you a lot of grief.

I haven't seen these files yet, but I'm presuming they will be simple Word documents -- just text, nothing else.  I thought I would copy/paste the text from the original Word file into a text box that I'll create over whatever background elements (photos, most likely) -- but do all of this work first in Paint Shop Pro.  Then, save that as a .jpg and use it in Studio that way.  So, that will keep title overlays to a minimum (I may still need to use them on a few photos).

Believe me, I've learned the hard way that you can't save your work too often.

Thanks again for your responses, it's been very helpful!

If you save all the text info directly on the jpeg then it shouldn't be a problem, except if you want to edit it. Studio has a way of randomly rearranging title overlays on the time line. I think the jpeg thing should work for you. It's a lot of work, but who ever said it was all going to be easy anyway. (insert smile here)

Hi I dont know how you are with copy-write  but there's a lovely song which is perfect for the ending either with slow motion video or just pictures with the dissolve effect in between

The song is by Vitamin C and is called Friends forever [The Graduation song ] Hope you like it
