I have been trying to find the pan and zoom screen which shows the 'pan and zoom from start to finish' and also 'match previous clip'.

Perhaps I have forgotten how to activate the window. Anyone else notice this? If it's operator error, please advise.

Double-click on a clip on the timeline. It will pop up like before.

That's what I was remembering, but now when I double click on the clip in the timeline I get the 'modify clip property' window. Does it work on your installation? I'm using ver 11 by the way.

Very good, thanks. Just as I thought, 'Operator Error'. I always consider that high on the list as you can see from my first post. I used to always think the the computer had screwed up, but I later learned that about 99.9% of the time it is the operator. Now, I always try to check the operator first. I had forgotten that screen only works on stills. Thanks again.

I also have problems with Pan & Zoom.  The left pane on my Studio 11 utimate shows garbage when working with stills:  The Ken Burns feature seems to work OK but I miss the control frame from the standard panel.   (Nvidia 6200 256MB)

You're using that extra plugin that comes with Ultimate, Stage Movie, or whatever it's called .

Have you tried using the regular P&Z plugin? That works fine for me as shown in the screen grab I did. Also, I'm running XP SP2.

Since I don't have Ultimate or Vista, if that's what you're using, I can only comment on what's working for me. I wish they'd have some way for us to easily post our OS and Studio version, especially since they have chosen not to have separate forum for S9,10, or 11.

I misread your first post . It's the plugin that works and the regular P&Z that's giving you a messed up picture.

I've never seen anything like that. Does your video card meet, or preferably exceed, the recommendations from Pinnacle? That would be the first thing I'd look at.

If the video card is OK then does this happen to all the pictures when you try the P&Z? If yes, then maybe a repair install might fix it.

 Other than that, I don't know what else would help.

 

Hi to piddle paddler, I've just installed Ultimate and I'm getting the same problem! Have you solvedit? If so please let me know as Pinnacle cannot solve it!

I don't recall ever getting the pan/zoom panel when double-clicking a video clip. That only happens with stills.

Pan/zoom for video is one of the Standard RTFX effects. Select video effects, click the plug-in button, and there you are.

Yes you are right, double click on a still image brings up the Pan/Zoom feature for advanced panning with a preview window on left. My problem is that the preview window is full of pixelated black and grey stripes as is the left hand preview window in Chromakey. 

Another problem is that I can't import from studio+ v9.4.3 any stu. files, only the music track with the projects music on it.

Any ideas please? I've been in touch with Pinnacle and at this moment in time cannot come up with an answer.

The questions that loosecannon asked earlier are good ones. If you answer them, it would help other to help you.

• Does this happen on all pictures ... only some ... only one?
  
  
• How big are the pictures (files size, resolution)?
  
  
• Does your graphics card meet or exceed minimum requirements published on Pinnacle's web site?
  
  
• Have you tried deleting your aux files for the project with the problem?
  
  
• Have you tried creating a new project and dragging some of the same pictures to your time to see if you get the same results? (It could be that your other proejct files [.stx] has been corrupted somehow.)

More information will help the forum help you.

The problem is on all images,

Sizes I've tried from 6mb down to 100kb,

Aux. files deleted, tried a new project.

Min Spec for video card for Ultimate is: · DirectX 9 or higher compatible graphics card with 64 MB (128 MB recommended); 128 MB required for use with Vitascene filters; 128 MB required for Vista (256 MB ATI Radeon 9600+ or NVIDIA GeForce 6 recommended); 256 MB required for HD and AVCHD editing (ATi Radeon 9600+ or NVIDIA GeForce 6 recommended).

My card is: NVIDIA Gforce FX 5200 128MB

Mike, I have not resolved the problem.  I have completed 4 major projects, deleted files, used all different image types and sizes,  reinstalled software and updates until I'm really tired of Pinnacle. I have been using Studio since release 8.  The only common link I see is we both use NVidia video cards, but mine is an e-GeForce 6200 LE with 256 MB.  Worked fine with 9.4.3

My processor is a AMD Athlon XP 2100MHZ  (12.8 X 168) 2600+, what is yours?

But, I didn’t always have this issue.

I’m wondering if the issue lies in a file that pan and zoom uses…???

I would like to know if this is fixed as well. I was running 10.8 and never had this issue. I upgraded to 11 and it started. I reinstalled 10 and moved back to 10.8 and now 10.8 has the issue as well.

My apologies I have added a post on this subject as well with B+W still image,  same Video card but I did have the same pixelation effect on other editing screens prior to upgrading to S10+ and on an older ati 126mb video card.

Hope we can find a solution!

From my experimenting and re-installing S10.5+ thru to 10.8+ the pan and zoom functionality becomes compromised  with the upgrade to 10.8! all versions of install 10.7 - 10.5 work fine and seem stable.

I have just joined in.

I have the same problem.

It was working well with version 9. I have just bought Studio 11 Ultimate and getting this problem. With both version 9.4 and 11 Ultimate install on my pc, it still works on 9.4 but has never worked on 11.

Pinnacle told me to format my hard disk and reinstall. I did - still the same.

I have installed 11 on my pc at work and there it works. 

Both my home and work pcs are running XP Pro english SP2.

At work I have a HP desktop with video on the motherboard, so nothing fanncy. Also this machine has been installed since a few years and is full of junck.

At home it is a HP Pavilion with nVidia Video FX5500 256Mb.

If you use from the menu 'Add video effects' - 'Pam and Zoom', you can with the cursors do the same and more. My installation of Studio is in french so menus and functions may not be exactly as I indicate.

Does someone have any solution on this.

I have a FX 5200 card on my computer, I could try and reproduce the issue if you could send me a copy of a Pan & Zoom problematic picture.
