    Windows Extended Desktop

As I am one of those people who loves having two monitors connected to my PC and therefore can enjoy all the benefits of an extended desktop, I for one would welcome the facility to split the Studio 11 editing suite over the two monitors.

    1) This would enable me to have the timeline over the two screens and therefore make it easier to edit.

    2) could be very useful to have S11 suite on the left hand monitor and the facility to have the playback window (which is normally in the top right hand corner) on the extended desktop on monitor 2 in full size and resolution.

    3) Another idea would be to have the facility to set an alarm when in 'Make Movie' mode so that if you are rendering (which can take some time) and burning to disc, an alarm sounds to indicate that the job has completed. The alarm could be an MP3 file that is on the computer. This would save having to keep checking on the computer to see the status.

    4) Finally, how about incorporating into S11 in capture, edit and make movie screens a CPU and Memory display in either speedometer or percentage format. This could not only reassure the user that it hadn't crashed but also could assist in indicating how to speed up the performance of the computer e.g more memory.

You can put the preview screen on one monitor, and leave the Studio UI on the other.  That's fairly straightforward.

Stretching the Studio UI across both monitors?  I don't know if that's impossible, but it doesn't necessarily sound as nice to me as the larger preview window does...

I used Studio 10 in a dual-monitor situation for a while, but eventually fell back to single-monitor just because it was quicker (for me) to work all on one 21", 1600x1200 screen -- and I've stuck there even in S11, out of habit more than anything else.  If you're running a lower resolution, though, the extra real-estate would definitely come in handy.

So, the "using two monitors" is an "already does", I think.

The alarm thing?  Definitely an idea that I'll support.

The CPU and memory usage display from within Studio?  Why not use Windows Task Manager to see memory and CPU usage?

3 - Sound an alarm ("alert") when rendering is done.

Yes, and a nice big pop-up window saying "rendering done" might be nice.  That way you could tell at a glance from across the room if it's done or not.

(And a large RED "failure" window if it wasn't successful, with a different audible alarm for success vs. failure.)
