PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 WORKING NOW !!

FINALLY, got my PCTV hybrid Pro PCI 310i working on Vista x64 Ultimate Big Smile

But ONLY by NOT using the PCTV software of pinnacle, since it obviously lacks support and won't install on Vista x64 at all (see my previous messages and questions).

V4.21 complains about missing .NET 1.0

V4.92 complains about missing .NET 2.0 (despite it being part of Vista)

V4.94 installer complains about "not x64 compatible"

V4.95a beta won't accept my VALID serial So installing whatever of pinnacle failed, except the driver which installed perfectly (or was it the M$ update that works Devil ).

Despite that my card works FINE in chris-tv (www.chris-tv.com) as well as in Cyberlink PowerCinema (www.cyberlink.com ) without ANY flaw.

So I kept on looking for something to have my card recognized in Windows Media Center x64, according to all info I found the ONLY issue was a valid MPEG-2 encoder to be plugged into WMC.

Finally found something on http://www.mainconcept.com (Main Concept Codecs), they have a FREE x32 and x64 codec plugin (it shows a watermark in the upper left corner) or a payed version without watermark, both FULLY functional.

Look at http://www.mainconcept.com/site/prosumer-products-4/mce-encoder-17756/demo-version-17760.html for all possible versions.

AND IT WORKS !!! Big Smile Big Smile

Windows x64 Media Center recognizes my card and gives the options of analog or digital tuner, radio tuner, teletext, the whole works in Vista Windows x64 Media Center!

All went fine, tuned in lots of channels, EVEN teletext works like a charm in vista media center!

WHY can't Pinnacle succeed in supporting their OWN material as well as 3rd parties can ??????????

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 WORKING NOW !!

    Hi,

I tried the abpve codec. And I was successfully able to get my card detected successfully in Vista Ultimate MCE, x64. But i GOT NO SOUND.

Can you guide me how you got your Audio detected successfuly?

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 WORKING NOW !!

I would love to know how you got it working, as I'm just crashing all the time.

I downloaded the MCC codec and the trial version of ChrisTV, but I just get crashes and the odd BSOD.

I've tried the Pinnacle beta 64 driver too, but Vista's Media Center crashes whilst trying to  scan channels.

I've got Vista auto-updating so it shouldn't be anything missing from there.

If anyone's got any advice, I'd appreciate it. It's a pain dual-booting just to use the TV card.

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 WORKING NOW !!

MainConcept didn't work for my 100i but the ArcSoft MPEG2 Decoder works very good, except the quiality of the picture is not so good (it's interlaced).

Also made my remote type A to work with MCE...

The only problems that remains is the ticking sound which comes sometimes... (Like in that thread: http://forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/thread/152462.aspx)

It appeared randomly since I've installed Vista x64 in November 2007...

Sorry on that issue, cannot help you there since my 310i didnt show such prob at all in whatever soft I installed on my vista x64. Neither did I encounter a ticking sound.

Only thing not working here was all pinnacle soft (except for the x64 driver, and I assume that works due to the M$ updates)

ONLY thing I do remember is a specific setting in for example chris-tv for the sound: I'm taking the sound through the PCIbus using direct-X sound controller for my card (don't shoot at me, it's so named by chris-tv). That was the only program I encountered having such an option I had to use, and the only progrqam I had to use it in.

Maybe this for the ticking in the later post: I'd try checking the audio card settings too.... is there for instance a hardware accelerator function or such stuff? then try disabling it for testing, or install a more basic driver or so if a fancy-equalizer-stuff-one is installed now. I'd look there since if I interpret correctly more people seem to have encountered this while using different programs.

    success

Note: I'm still seriously wondering how on earth it can be that several programs lying around (even those of a couple of years ago) can flawlessly control my card even in vista x64 without that soft being written for my type of card, but pinnacle still cannot support their own hardware by a decent working program at current time which is years after the hardware release and windows x64 releases....

Anyone of "support" can give a decent and satisfying answer on that one ??? Think the group is waiting for it... and for a long time now reading all the "it's upcoming"-like answers from longtime ago Tongue Tied

You don't give full details of your hardware, but I'm guessing you have 4GB or more of RAM.

I get exactly the same issue (BSODs when scanning for channels) with my 7010iX card running Vista 64 with 4GB RAM. The problem has also been mentioned at The UK's AVForums, and the only fix appears to be to remove one or more RAM modules to bring the total down to less than 4GB. :(

The problem also affects the 3010iX card, and I thought it was a PCI-Express thing, but the fact that you're having the same trouble with a PCI card suggests not, and that it's a "feature" of Pinnacle cards in particular.

Incidentally, I don't know about the 310i, but it's not necessary to use the beta 64-bit driver for the 7010ix, as Vista SP1 finds it automatically and installs a later version from Windows Update.

I emailed Pinnacle's "technical support" asking for an explanation - firstly "Catalin" gave me a completely irrelevant answer, and in reply to my follow-up email he/she gave up and just said "Unfortunately we do not offer support for our PCTVs used under Vista 64-bit".

I guess I'll be looking elsewhere for a replacement - pity, as the card performs well under Vista 32 and represents a lot of bang for the buck. :(

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 WORKING NOW !!

I got the same problem. 7010ix working greate under windows XP, and also udner Vista 64-bit, but in Vista works only with 2GB of RAM. When i insert more memory (5GB) then programs ( ProgDVB, DVBDream ) don`t scanning channels, and system crashes.

I thing the problem is with addresing of memory. Microsoft should do something with that. Also problem is runing DiseqC on the other programs except Pinnacle software. I thing the BDA driver can`t meke it. Maybe WDM drivers could do something with that, but who`s going to do WDM drivers...?

CaptainCrash, is any news about that problem?.

What is this Driver used for? Do you mean to replace the default Pinnacle Drivers and install these drivers and then I would be able to view TV in Vista x64 MCE  ?

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 WORKING NOW !! - With Pinnacle software!!!!

    Hi all,

I used the  TVCenter Pro 4.98.1903 on Vista X64 (Ultimate) and EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECT

Analog TV/ DVB-T / Radio / Teletext work!!!!!!!!! (Finally I have Greek Teletext working!!!!)

In the setup of TV Center I used my PCTV serial key  ( from PCTV Ver 3.2a Jul 2005)

and removed from installation (selected custom install) the hardware driver. Vista had already one installed.

I do not know why this version isn't issued for the 310i card (and many others) officialy . Perhaps Pinnacle is still

    testing the SW?

    Greetings from Athens,GR

Update : TVCenter PRO 4.99.2088 works as well.........................

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 NOT WORKING NOW !!

    Hello there,
with my big disappointment, my PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i stopped working on my system yesterday, as soon as I upgraded my RAM to 4Gb.
My OS is Vista Ultimate x64. MCE just crashes as soon as Vista starts and whenever I open it and choose to watch TV.

I did try installing this driver but it's no use. Can you please tell me what to do to get my 310i back to work? Thanks in advance.

there is a pinned thread that you can check out.

Which pinned thread? Provide a link, please. I followed the instructions on some random pinned thread and I ended up freezing my system.

Just to isolate, can you take revert back to 2 GB of RAM?

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 NOT WORKING NOW !!

    Mon Roy:

That's for the USB stick, my card is a PCI device. I tried installing those drivers anyways, even if Vista said it was not recommended. Well, I went ahed and my system froze up on rebooting. I had to restart in safe mode and uninstall the driver.

    Mon Roy:

I tried, and the card works no problem with 2GB. Unfortunately, having 4GB is top priority for me right now because I play AND work with my PC. I won't downgrade just to make the TV card work.

    :

I'm using the PCTV Pro S/W and not the MediaCenter App.

That would solve the problem I think, but where do I find a serial code for that? I started the installation of PCTV Pro v4.98 and tried entering the serial for Pinnacle Studio QS Version 10 which I found in bundle with the card but, of course, that code was not valid.

Now, how easy would it be to download a key generator off of emule? I'm not doing that since I'm a honest person and becuase I'd find more amusing throwing the friggin' Pinnacle card out of the window rather than start pirating software.

I chose this particular the card also because you put the "certified for windows vista" sticker on it. It reads "CERTIFIED", not "it may work" or "you will have some problems". It doesn't say anything about the 64bit version or 4Gbs or RAM.

Re: PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI 310i on Vista x64 NOT WORKING NOW !!

The serial from Studio OFCOURSE DOESNT WORK Check your CD's. You must have a MediaCenter Software CD The S/N I used was from a Pinnacle CD labeled Pinnacle PCTV Media Center Software Version 3.2a International Version Windows XP July 2005 The S/N is just below some photographs CMON People it works!!!!!!!!!!! I'm using TV Center Pro Build : 2088 Version 4.99.2088 with PCTV Hybrid PRO PCI on Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit with 4GB RAM The serial for PCTV starts with JBGOM-XXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX the Studio SN stars with JADDM-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX I do not know if I can post the entire S/N although it seems to be silkscreened on the CD I bought the card in Dec 05/Jan 06 (do not remember) from Conrad (online shop) Regards

We would need used chipset and driverversion of mainboard and the same info for the grafics card. Also Windowsversion and installed Service Pack, used PCTV hardware and signal type as well as the used TVCenter Pro version.
