    Studio 10 Plus - movie duration 0:00:00.01

I have MPEG-2 files created from my Panasonic high definition camera (HDC-SD5) via the supplied HD Writer 2.0E software.

The files play correctly in the playback window (and in Windows Media Player).  But after dragging the file into the 'My Movie' frame they are no longer movies but just a single frame. What am I doing wrong please?

Apoligies if the answer to this is obvious - I'm new to this!

    John.

    Hi Marcus,

    Thanks for reply.

I am using Studio 10.8.0.4641. I have followed the proceedure for importing files; I can successfully import the sample files. I am receiving no error messages.

(I have just converted a file to .wmv using TMPGEnc4.0 and that imports correctly!)

    Regards,

    John

Re: Studio 10 Plus - movie duration 0:00:00.01

Sorry Marcus, I obviously didn't express my reply properly.

I still can't import the MPEG files created by the software supplied with the camera; if I convert it .wmv with TMPGEnc4.0 then it will work.  What I was trying to point out was that there is nothing wrong with the MPEG files as far as TMPGEnc4.0 is concerned. Why won't Studio 10 import them?

    Thanks,

    John.

Take a look at this FAQ John , regarding on Importing Mpeg file

Marcus, I can read what it says but it doesn't directly answer the inquiry.

"Studio can open MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files. MPEG-1 files have will have an .MPG or .MPEG extension. MPEG-2 which will have the .MPG file extension. If an MPEG file has the .mpeg extension, right click on the file and choose Rename to change the extension from .mpeg to .mpg in order for Studio to import it.

Studio will not support MPEG elementary stream files. These files have a separate audio and video stream. These files can have the file extension .M2V, .M1V."

The files produced by HD Writer 2.0E software do have a .mpg extension . What is wrong such that Studio will not import them?  Are you saying that the .mpg files produced by this software are 'elementary stream files'?  If they are, how are you supposed tell?

     Thanks,

    John.

Re: Studio 10 Plus - movie duration 0:00:00.01

    Johnemo,

The HDC-SD5 is an AVCHD camcorder. It does not record mpeg files.  Are you converting to MPEG because you don't want (or cannot work) with AVCHD?  The files that HD Writer give you ahould be AVCHD files (.m2ts or .mts), unless you are converting them somehow.  You should be able to just drag and drop those into Studio 11.  Assuming that you are using Studio 10, then you will need to convert the files to mpeg since Studio 10 cannot import AVCHD files. When you open up the file from HD Writer in Windows Media Player, in File>Properties, what is listed under video? Or in your converter package, what are the settings you are using for conversion to wmv?
