    Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

I've had version 11 and upgraded to 11.1

Like every version I've had since v7, it's unstable.  When I got 11 it wouldn't recognize my two DVD drives.  After jumping through hoops and several hours of personal debugging I found a work around.

I was rewarded with no problems for about a month.  I was able to edit several videos and actually write them to DVD's.

Now the latest Pinnacle challenge has arisen.

When I start it it displays up to about 38% and gives me the above error.

Any ideas out there on why this is now happening?

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

Is that the complete and exact message???  Does it say anything about "Invalid XML Error 4"?

You might also try this patch (it obviously fixes more thaan just a burner problem):

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

Thanks for the URL, I'll check it out.

The exact error message is "Initialization Failed".  I have Studio 11.1 Ultimate.

I tried to paste the screen print of the message here but it won't load.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

Just the words "Initialization Failed" and nothing else?   Hmmm.

Have you tried the fix I linked you to?  Any results?

I encountered a similar error message, but for me, I'm just installing the software. I get the error message Studio 11 - Initialization failed I also run a studio log report and here what it says - "Studio initialization failed - Liquid Runtime did not start"

My system is running on vista home premium

2.20 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core

    NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

I have brought the Studio11 installation disk with me to work and installed it on a computer running Windows XP. Installed without a problem first time. One thing I noticed, during the beginning of the installation, a movie played in the upper right corner of the screen talking about AVID. This did not happen when I tried to installon my Vista at home. I don't know if this is significant.

    Any thoughts??? Thanks.

I too had that problem and it took me 2 days to solve it. I am now editing away!!!

    Alan,

What did you do to solve it?  I'm sure Roblmc and I both would be interested in hearing the fix.  I got the same problem.

He's waiting for someone to ask that, but it's a trap. He returned Studio for another product.

    More HERE.

Hi. Unfortunately, I gave up in frustration and bought Adobe Premiere Elements 4. I owned every version of Pinnacle since Studio 8. Fortunately, the retailer from whom I purchased Pinnacle 11 exchanged it for Adobe Premiere. I am very happy with Adobe. It installed, is full of features and burns and renders extremely quickly. I wish Pinnacle worked for me and was pulling my hair out.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

Can you try to uninstall Studio 11, using the uninstall/reinstall procedures from this FAQ. Afterwards, try to do a System Restore for your machine. Try to set it on a later date on which Studio 11 hasn't yet to be installed that time. After completing the procedures, reboot your machine and reinstall Studio 11. Try to run it without the patch. If the same thing happens try to install the patch and check.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

    OK here goes,

    XP SP3
    brand new Q6600,  2 gb,  8800gt pc.
Only a couple of weeks old.
    Hardly any software on it.
Like the others, during the "Building effects database" phase I get the "Initialization failed" - see screen-shot below.

This particular attempt was after uninstalling, running the reg-delete, re-booting in safe mode, running reg-delete again, running the installer from a folder on the C drive called base and included the SP3 work around file.

The result was exactly the same as before only the install takes a lot longer in safe mode which is even more of a wind up Super Angry

One thing I did notice was that at the beginning of the install the serial number is auto filled in along with my name etc.
Whether, despite the uninstall, folder deletion and reg-delete there is some text file lurking about that is screwing up the process I'm not sure.

It loaded up first time on my old machine, which was also running SP3.
The problem was that the machine was just not man enough to handle video editing which is why I built this new one.

For the record this is my Question number from support, 080201-001766

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

There was a thread posted here about 2-3 weeks ago giving a pointer to a knowledge base article about installing Studio 11 under XP SP3.  I can't find the thread right now, but if you go to the knowledge base and search on SP3 it should turn up.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

    SP3 is not the issue.
It loaded fine on my other SP3 machine.

    The issue is Initialization failed,

However duel or in my case quad cores seem to be having problems and it appears the even after uninstalling and reg delete there are still legacy files hiding away which also could be causing the problem.

Either way it has to be sorted out.

That would be Studio Pixie Folder.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed - success, of sorts!

Well its working but it cost me a new harddrive.

Reinstalled XP and still no joy so I went out and bought a new sata 320gb hdd.
Installed windows, updated to SP2 and installed Studio 11 ultimate with no problems.

So No problem anymore other than the missus giving me a hard time about "how much" and "Another hard drive, how many do you want!"

Just got to learn how to use it now, plus install all the firewall, email accounts, address book, drivers, various programs, the list continues, hmm I hope it's all worth it! Tongue Tied

When you reinstalled windows, were you able to format and repartition? I find it strange that you weren't able to get it fixed after reinstalling windows and a new hard drive fixed it.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed - success, of sorts!

The issue with the reinstall of windows was nothing to do with Pinnacle and more to do with downgrading from SP3 first I think.

(other than the fact that the only reason I was having to do this at all was because I had the Initialization bug)

Anyway I ended up with not being able to boot windows, even in safe mode.

As I have a lot of other data on thet drive I couldn't format the drive fully so it was safer to start again with a new drive and use the old one as a slave.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed - success, of sorts!

Thanks for the clarification. I'm sure you will be able to get your crucial data out of the old drive as a slave.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

FWIW - Having used S10 since it was Launched, I recently got "Initialization Failed" several times with S10.7, when S10.7 Launcher hung @ exactly 41% each time. Doing a Repair Install from S10.0 Prog Disk 1 & Updating to S10.7 again,  fixed it.

Re: Studio 11 - Initialization Failed

I had this error with Studio 10 when I installed Studio 11 on the same computer without uninstalling it. Did a uninstall/regdelete/reinstall for 10 it works great with 10.7 in XP.
