Should I reinstall Liquid? - Need help soon.

I've been having annoying problems with Liquid for quite some time now, and I'm not sure if reinstalling Liquid could potentially fix these problems.  They include:

    • Slow response times (5 seconds) when marking in/out or cutting
    • Play bar jumping around on the timeline
    • Various field order/rendering issues

These are the big ones, but there's more - I just can't remember at the moment.  Would reinstalling Liquid potentially fix these issues?  Also, if I were to uninstall and then reinstall Liquid, will my projects still be there?

    Thanks.

So, you are running chrome, if I am correct, that machine you are using isn´t certified for chrome, I might be wrong, the chrome experts might jump in here to assist.

Well I'm not about to buy a new system, especially given that it's a work computer.  So I'm stuck with what I've got.

Just weighing my options here - If I were to uninstall and reinstall, would I lose any of my projects or media?

Is that a HP or a custom built rig?

If it is custom built you could have a problem but I doubt it would be that bad.  After all the system has to be up to a certain level just to install the card and your system is clearly a work station.

What other software do you have on this system?  Maybe something like a firewall or virus checker is killing Liquid.

Please give us more data on your system.  I may or may not be able to help you since I use Chrome Xe and you are using the old school Chrome HD.

It's a custom-built PC.  If it helps at all, it used to work ok without the problems I've mentioned.

I have no virus protection.  Windows firewall is enabled - would that affect my performance?

I don't know how much detail you're looking for, but I've got Adobe Production Suite, and several other small utilities like Stuffit, Itunes, VST's, divx codecs, Serious Magic ULTRA, firefox.  Even when none of these are running as an application, I still get problems.

    What Catalyst are you using?

7.12 is one of the best for 1950.

Re: Should I reinstall Liquid? - Need help soon.

Well if it worked at one point you need to find out what has changed on your system when you started having problems.

Just because a program isn't running doesn't mean it doesn't conflict with Liquid.  Some programs can mess up other programs just by being installed.  If you have Itunes on this machine I assume it is on the internet and you surf from this computer.  Not a good idea for a Chrome system.  The whole point is to have a stable system and not fill it with a bunch of garbage.  Who knows what other little things could have been installed through internet adventures.

Try to find out what is causing the problem.  Figure out what was installed when it started acting up.  If you have no clue then I would save all your important data and wipe the system.  You have a lot of stuff on there and wiping the system very well could help.  Once you have a stable clean system only put the other stuff back on one at a time to make sure something doesn't cause a problem.  If one of them does then do not use that software with Liquid.

While using Itunes and surfing the net may work out on some Liquid systems I really wouldn't do that stuff on a Chrome system.  A chrome system should be used just for editing.  You can get a cheap laptop to sit on your desk to surf the web and that will keep your Chrome system clean and safe.
