Pinnacle PCTV nanoStick 73e problems after retune

I have the above hardware and was exceptionally pleased with it until a few days ago. In the UK we were asked to retune our TV's and digital boxes a few days ago to enable those who couldn't receive Channel Five to now receive it. Previously I could get the full complement of Freeview channels on PCTV with great picture quality but now only BBC channels and ITV4 have pictures. When I retune it takes about 10 tries for the tuner to pick up Channel Five, ITV, ITV2, ITV3 and others. On BBC programmes the signal strength is about 65 and the signal quality is 100. When I finally pick up the additional channels I then choose Channel Five or ITV for instance the signal strength is about the same but the signal quality is 0 and there is a blank screen with no sound. The PCTV device is connected to a portable aerial which is in the loft and as I have said previously worked fine before the retune.
I am pulling my hair out over this. Do I need to uninstall everything and start from scratch or would it help just to move the aerial? If the latter I will have to wait for my nephew to come because I can't fit through the hole (I am not large it is just that the hole is too small)!!
Any advice gratefully received.

so, I have a pctv to go HD wireless... try pinnacle support live online chat, they tell me to call pinnacle, about an hour and a half of wasted time on hold on the phone there leads me back to pinnacle live support who tell me to contact pctvsystems... call them they tell me they don't support the product, come here the forum is locked... this item was sold by pinnacle and is warrented by them... I would like a refund or replacement from SOMEONE for it...

I install windows 7 ultimate x64 and update, then i downwoad your drivers windows 7 beta, olso downwoad tvcenter 5.4.1.
After instailling this soft i receve an error window. Olso tried version o tv center 4.9. What can I do.

Wizard could not locate PCTV to Go Device

I wonder if anyone can help? I have a wireless PCTV To Go which is fresh out of the box but second-hand and I'm trying for a wired installation.

However, the Wizard cannot locate the device on my network. Very frustrating. At start-up, all the front LED lights on the unit are initially coming on in the correct sequence with the two far right ones then remaining illuminated with a steady glow, the ethernet LED on the back connecting cable socket winking merrily away and at the other end the router socket LED for the cable from the PCTV TO Go is also indicating that there is a connection. I have tried tried unit and network power cycles and a factory reset. I'm running Vista as the OS. The wireless aerial on the laptop has been switched off through the button.

I have also, I think, accessed all the relevant FAQs in Pinnacle support and I think followed what advice is there. Maybe however I've missed out on something.....hence this posting!

PCTV to Go HD and Media Center - Vista Premium

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I set up my PCTV to Go HD with Media Center and when I click on Live TV it works perfectly. The guide works and I can change the channels perfectly...but my issue is when I try to record something I get the error "there is no tv signal" even though I'm watching it Live....when I try to schedule a program to record I get "there was no tv signal when the show was scheduled to record." Has anybody had this issue or any guesses as to what the problem might be? Thanks.

central server is unreachable

I am able to connect with video and audio on my local wireless network but, get the "CENTRAL SERVER IS UNREACHABLE" error when trying to connect over the net. Tech service could not help, said try again tomorrow......help

Is anyone else having this problem????

[Solution] Unable to connect to central server error

There have been some changes on the server side, therefore some changes on the client side have to be applied. Please follow the steps further down to keep using your PCTV ToGo device in the future.

Resolution overview (more detailed description can be found below):

1. Download the Firmware 152.115 from http://www.myhava.com/downloads/fw_32.152115.rup.img
2. Reset the device after firmware upgrade of ramdisk.
3. Apply/Run the attached patch of registry fix and then configure the device for remote viewing.
4. Test Remote Connection

1. Upgrade to the downloaded Firmware version

NOTE: If you get the message at any time, that you are using an older Firmware and a newer one is available, please discard this message and go on with the procedure below.

Run PCTV Setup Wizard (Local Network Only)
Go to Advanced
Select Upgrade Firmware
Specify Path, where you have downloaded the Firmware fw_32.152115.rup.img File
Click on Open
Click on Upgrade
Wait until the firmware is uploaded.

2. How to Reset PCTV2go to Factory Defaults:

Turn the PCTV ToGo On. Wait for a Minute so that it will boot properly.
Press and Hold the Reset Button concealed within the reset hole at the back of the PCTV ToGo with a paper pin or Safety Pin.
Wait until all the Lights on the Front Panel of PCTV ToGo will Flash all together (takes around 6 to 7 Seconds)
Release the Reset Button and let the Unit Reboot. Takes around One~Two minute.
Once the Two Solid Lights are back run PCTV ToGo Setup Wizard again to Reconfigure PCTV ToGo from Scratch.

3. How to Run the Registry Patch

Download the attached file CentralServerAddress.reg to any easy location of the client PC, i.e. the Desktop
Merge it to your registry by right-clicking on the file and selecting "Merge" from the menu.

4. Test the remote connection

Try using the PCTV ToGo as you were used to. The problem should be solved.

Letterboxing

I get letterboxing on PCTVTOGO in cases where I don't understand why. Right now I'm watching Deadwood on a widescreen monitor, with PCTVo go on full screen. Deadwoodas shot in either 1.77: or 1.85:1. (This is what I've read; may depend on which season it is.) Seems like there should be either no or minimal letterboxing,, but in fact it is significant. The picture is more than twice as wide as tall. Anyone know why? Surely HBO doesn't broadcast it in 2.35:1 if it wasn't shot that way.

Being dangerous - loading the Hava 1.8 software on the PCTV To Go

Just a quick note: Monsoon Multimedia (the developers of the HAVA hardware that Pinnacle uses as its PCTV To Go) have continued to develop software and drivers for the hardware.

They are up to version 1.8 now, and have added some nice features that Pinnacle's older version of the software is lacking, such as pausing remote viewing.

I have done a little experimenting with the HAVA 1.8.0.11 update, and thus far, it seems to "just work" for me on the PCTV To Go HD Wireless hardware that I am currently running. Now, my hardware is the old-old-old version that has an integrated analog tuner, so newer builds *may* be different, but I don't think so. In my case, the HAVA updater recognized my PCTV To Go hardware, and willingly updated it to the latest HAVA firmware, and along with the new player, I now have a working (if COMPLETELY unsupportable by either Pinnacle or Monsoon ) device.

Note: There have been reports that doing this update can adversely affect wireless connectivity. I exclusively use wired connectivity, so I can't tell you how well that might work out. What I *can* say is that users who had wireless connectivity problems under 1.7.4 were able to restore wireless connectivity by changing a registry entry and rebooting, but no one has yet completed testing this under 1.8. So -- if you decide to do it, be *really* careful...

Factory reset button doesn't work

Hello: I've received a second hand "pctv to go".

My problem is that the factory reset button doesn't work.

If I plug the ethernet cord in the router it takes a IP from the router and I can access it with the setup program, but it ask for a password, and it is not 0000.

How can I reset the password or do a factory reset? Maybe telnet?

The motherboard says it is a:

HAVA-6-LAYER-MONSOON-2105 and 7137

PCA: 20-HA-2200-00

SERIAL: 82410109402071301984

Weird problem after 1.7 update

This one I can't explain, except to wonder if the PCTV2GO software is refusing to run.

It's "there", in that it's an active device on my network. I found the IP address in my DHCP server, and am certainly able to connect to it via TELNET, so I know that the base OS of the box is running.

However, no way no how can the PCTV To Go Setup Wizard find it.

Edit: Yep, it appears to be somewhat dead, as holding down the RESET button for the 4+ seconds doesn't cause all of the lights to light up, nor do they then go out. Assuming that this reset is a "software reset" (which I think is a safe assumption), that would tend to indicate that the software isn't running.

Nor do I see 2 LEDs lit on the front of the box after allowing the box a minute or so to initialize...so if that 2nd-from-the-right LED is under application control, the app isn't getting that far.

Darn.

How do you secure your PCTV to go HD network?

I live in an apartment complex and just noticed that my iphone is picking up the wifi from my Pinnacle PCTV to go HD device. Where do I go in the Pinnacle software settings to secure this PCTV to go HD device so other people can't tap into my internet connection as well?????

PCTV TOGO HD Wireless - Installation Problem

When I try to install from the disc (or online) I keep getting "driverinstallation.exe" has stopped working. Then it installs the PCTV TOGO Player, then it tries to uninstall and i get the error "driveruninstallation.exe" has stopped working. After I do all of this if I restart my laptop it will not start up and I have to restore to a point before I tried to install the software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can we set Pinnacle PCTV TO GO in Europe?

Can we set Pinnacle PCTV TO GO in Europe, feed the PAL digital cable feed to it and watch TV in USA using ether another Pinnacle PCTV TO GO or a Sling Catcher on our NTSC TVs.

Or would there be a PAL to NTSC format issue?

Also.. can 2 or 3 diffrent people connect to the same unit and watch diffrent channels at same time..

I travel a lot around with my fam.... work releated.... an wanted to have my Polish TV with me.. lol..

Website still contains outdated PCTV info

Not that it matters much, but the website still shows a feature of the PCTV To Go HD Wireless that has been discontinued for over a year and a half.

This image shows antenna input. That feature was removed a *long* time ago. Yet...here we are, in arguably twilight days of the sales of this device, and the website still seems to indicate that the feature exists.

And, for what it's worth, the FAQ explaining that there isn't an "antenna input" anymore contains a broken link.

Use Pinnacle PCTV To Go with external player

Hi,

I would like to use an external player for using my PCTV To Go. Reason for this is that the Pinnacle player uses a lot of CPU. I got it to work with VLC before and it worked perfectly. (Video quality was less but lagging was much better.) However now VLC automaticly shuts down when I enter the link. (rtsp://192.168.1.100:554) I tried to install VLC again with both the old en new version but the problem stayed.

Also Media center does'nt work for me as I've no IR blaster.

Are there other programs i could use and how do I need to give in the link?

Problem with PCTV To Go Wireless

I had this installed and working on my computer and recently reformatted. When I go to reinstall it after a fresh reformat, it shows me the little display channel in the setup from my cable box but when I finish the setup and open the program and click on Connect it tells me ""Cannot connect to PCTV To Go 'Local PCTV To Go Device'". Is there anything I can do to fix this? I am pretty sure I setup everything correctly because I have done this before and did everything the same way as I did before.

Announced today, the Pinnacle PCTV line will soon be property of Hauppauge Digital, not Avid Technology. After laying off 410 employees and divesting its Softimage 3-D game animation software business last Friday, the company has announced yet another major move in its restructuring efforts. According to Avid CEO Gary Greenfield, he's hoping to transform Avid's business into one that "focuses on software applications that not only meet consumer demand, but also complement our broader portfolio of video and audio solutions." Even he confessed that "PCTV [was] a compelling standalone hardware product and a better fit for Hauppauge, a recognized leader in the TV-viewing hardware market." While financial terms weren't disclosed, the deal is slated to close before the end of 2008, and the happy new owner has already announced its intentions to continue supporting and developing both the hardware and software components of the PCTV line.

Can I use 1.7.4 meant for hava (jul/11/08) for PCTV TO GO HD wireless ?

Hi Folks,

This is the first time I am using this site for PCTV to go wireless. I picked this box from ebay along with a Remote Kit for VISTA. The seller thought it was not an HD. Anyway the box is working great for me so far.

I noticed a new version of the software 1.7.4 for Hava wireless. I tried to check with Pinnacle if I could use it for PCTV to go wireless but they were not able to help.

Has anybody tried to use this software for pctv to go wireless ?

Also, has anyone have an idea if I could use the Remote Kit for Vista on my windows XP (with no Media center) to control my PCTV to go ? I downloaded a XP driver for it and know it the remote is working (as it types the channel number in a text pad) but the pctv does not pick the remote clicks.

TV tuner on my PCTV TO GO WIRELESS

I have two questions.

1. I just bought new PCTV TO GO Wireless through pinnacle website. I was surprised to see two coaxial cable pins one which says Attenna in and another says Antenna out. Now I am just wondering does this have built analog tuner. If so can I watch a different channel on PC and different on TV and also will this tuner work in India???

2. Is there any other player other than PCTV TO go player where I can play the network video? Actually I tried VLC with rtsp but keeps giving me errors...?
