Good ideas--I did decide to reinstall and voila, first burn was successful on Automatic! :D

You could try burning to an ISO and then using another program to do the physical burn.

Or use "Create disc content without burning" then burn using "Burn previously created disc content" within Studio.

Sorry, but I had already posted this on the general forum.

The forum is running quite slow again. It has been ok for a couple of weeks, but when I click the next button, it takes 5 to 10 seconds to get the next posting. Normally it takes 1 to 2 seconds.

Really not much luck, sadly. "Automatic" tells me there isn't enough space on my disc, so I'm forced to either do "Custom" or "Most Video on Disc", both of which give me a read error in my player. I may just try re-installing?

Many users have had plenty of success by using the "Automatic" selection. Don is also correct that the Disc meter maybe inaccurate at times. There are ways to get around it, one method is well.. to ignore and attempt to burn the project on your newly found RW.

The discometer is notoriously inaccurate. Try setting the quality to 'automatic' and burn it to your DVD-RW. See what happens.

In attempt #2, try setting the quality setting to "automatic". This should give you somewhat near the best quality that will fit on the disk. This is the setting I use for everything.

When experimenting, it's economical to purchase a small quantity of DVD-RW disks. These can be used many times over and will save you from making many useless coasters.

Computer specs:

GM5084, AMD Athlon 64x2 DC Processor 4200+, MMX, 2DNOW

1918 MB RAM memory, 2331 MB available

I have tried a few times to burn a full-length movie without success. In trying to limit contributing factors, I did an experiment. Prior to this experiment, I tried several media brands, including a better quality Taiyo Yuden, varying write speeds, and varying KB speeds.

Attempt #1: successful

Made a simple no-menu Project with about 19 minutes of film. Burned it to a disc using the following settings:

Disc Type: DVD

Quality: Automatic (default 2000 KB/sec, 4x write speed). Quality was at 100%.

Disc Type: Maxwell DVD-R 4.7 GB

This disc played beautifully in my standalone player.

Attempt #2: failure

Made a no-menu Project with 1 hour, 28 minutes of film. At 100% quality, this would have put my movie over the disc's limit by 78 minutes. So, burned it to a disc using the following settings:

Disc Type: DVD

Important Note: The "Most Video On Disc setting" gave me the following: default 2000 KB/sec, 24% quality, over by 47 minutes. Thus I changed my burn settings to:

Custom (5000 KB/sec, 4x write speed). >>at this setting, I was told that my quality was 59%, Used Disc Space 88 minutes, Free Disc Space 24 minutes.

Disc Type: Maxwell DVD-R 4.7 GB

The disc will not play in my standalone player.

I'm very much ready to figure out where the problem is laying--obviously somewhere in the burn settings. I am relatively new to burning DVDs. Any help or speculation is GREATLY appreciated!
