I wouldn't suggest buying them unless a work around is found. Try radioshack or circuit city.

These are the ones I bought. - [click to view image]

If the Dynex are the only ones in your budget, buy 2 and buy 1 high-end one. Use the high-end one for the video. Worst case scenario is you can adjust the brightness of the screen on the xbox 360 dashboard, but is a problem when u unplug the splitters as it is hassle to put it back to normal.

Re: Dazzle Platinum and the Video/Audio Splitters

Fantastic findings there Ozone. Could you share a little insight about the type of splitter that you got? When I do captures on my xbox I dont use any splitters at all. I just use the component end to go to my TV and the composite to my dazzle, I keep the signal on normal and not TV and it captures great. Most of all it captures without the use of splitters (well maybe 1 splitter which is for the sound).

Pinned!

Re: Dazzle Platinum and the Video/Audio Splitters

After an hour of screwing around with it, I have solved the problem.

My TV has Monitor out. For some ODD reason, the dazzle could not find the input from the output slot. So when ever I plugged in the RCA cables into the output, Studio 10 would say there is no signal. When I tried to fix this I took my RCA cables and tried INPUT 2, hoping it was Input 1 that was the problem. Nothing changed and Studio 10 couldn't find the signal. So I plugged in my splitters into the input, and did what the youtube
video's said. It worked to my amazement, but noticed the screen was
noticeably darker, yet the video from the capture card was perfect.

Next day(today),I took the the RCA cables and tried the output one more time. I plugged the RCA cables into the only output slot I had, and plugged my PS2 cables into INPUT 2(INPUT 2 MEANS YOU NEED TO BE ON VIDEO 2). Then I heard sound from my Computer, the sound of Socom. I was happy that I could return these $10 a peice cables back and get a nice shinny penny back. But was concerned to see if the video has changed. Sure enough, the video is Picture perfect, no darkness or anything.

This goes to show it wasn't the RCA cables OR the dazzle. Yet the Splitters. A suggestion for someone who is looking to solve this, go out and buy 1 splitter, of High quality, and use that for your video(yellow). And then use the cheaper ones for sound. That way you won't lose the quality(I am assuming, seeing as the lady at the store said the ones I had was the cheapest they can get.)

Re: Dazzle Platinum and the Video/Audio Splitters

This happens when I plug it into the dazzle. And it also happens everywhere, including dashboard and ingame. If I plug it in to the dazzle the screen gets darker. Heres a quick video I took. This is my ps2 seeing as my xbox 360 is out for repair. Also, so far I have come across 3 other people who are having the exact same problem. (The best example is at the end of the clip)

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v697/ozone1/?action=view&current=MOV01625.flv

It's hard to tell with the camera, plus it's A LOT WORSE with CoD4.

Here is another video explaining how it is set up.(Sound on, I explain)

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v697/ozone1/?action=view&current=MOV01627.flv

EDIT: I went upstairs, stole my DVD players RCA cables and switched them for the wal-mart ones. Still the exact same result, the screen is still darker than normal. With the splitters in, it still projects the exact same quality as if it was direct. It has to be something to do with the dazzle.

Re: Dazzle Platinum and the Video/Audio Splitters

I'm so sure as what could be causing this, but to just further isolate the issue, try and hook everything up like how you would and run COD4 and start capturing. While capture and at the instance of the dark TV display, disconnect the RCA cables going in the Dazzle (leaving the xbox, the game and the TV running) and see if the display on your would change back to its normal brightness.

By the way, does this also happen at the Xbox's dashboard screen or just ingame?

Re: Dazzle Platinum and the Video/Audio Splitters

I have mine like everyone else's really. Nothing Special. I will admit though, I bought my RCA cables from wal-mart and I am not sure if it is them that is losing the quality. I have talked to someone else who is having the exact same problem as me, and they said that you can turn up the brightness in-game and it makes the darkness go away, but I would like to fix it if it is a simple thing. Last thing is, I have TV Output and I don't really no how to use it. I plus my xbox 360(temperarily my ps2) like normal into the back of the tv, then plug the BOUGHT RCA cables and put them in the output, then plug the other end into the dazzle. When that happens, the dazzle saying no input detected or what ever. The other way by using the splitters works great and has AMAZING quality, but I can't stand the darkness as I probably have OCD lol.

Re: Dazzle Platinum and the Video/Audio Splitters

I use splitters but i never had a problem with them im really not sure but can yo ushow me a picture of what one's you got?

Dazzle and Video/Audio Splitters

I plugged in the dazzle, everything was working fine, until the main screen loaded(call of duty 4). On my TV, the screen is darker than it normally is. On Studio 10, it records as if there was no difference. I'm not to sure if it was a loose wire as I had to run the xbox 360 back to my neighbors(mine is in repair). Has this happened to anyone or is this what happens when you use audio/video splitters?
