Possible solution: Chrome XE and 64-bit Windows (Vista/W7)

There's been some inquiries lately on whether or not it's possible to get Chrome Xe working on a 64-bit version of Windows. Following the instructions for Liquid on 64-bit Vista, it's possible to get Liquid installed and running, and there are 64-bit AJA Xe drivers available. However, the dongle driver that ships with Chrome Xe is 32-bit only and will not install, so the software runs in demo mode only.

Here's an updated dongle driver with 32 and 64-bit support for Vista and W7: ftp://ftp.aladdin.com/pub/hasp/srm/Runtime_%28Drivers%29/HASP_SRM_Runtime_setup.zip

PLEASE NOTE!!!

This driver is not supported by Pinnacle or Avid. It's not been tested with Chrome Xe, and there's no guarantee that it will work, or that it won't cause your computer to melt down or turn your skin green or anything else. In other words, use at your own risk.

If it does work for you, please post that fact and let us know.

AJA-Support under Windows 7-64bit?

Because of the Dongle problem, Liquid Chrome Xe only runs in Demo mode, while the output via AJA Xena LHe works fine. The question is, whther it would be possible to install Liquid 7.2, which registers fine under Windows 7, and add this part of the installation of Chrome Xe which interfaces with AJA Xena LHe. If this would be possible, one could perfectly use the Xena LHe for life output. Did anybody tried this?

Hi.

Actually I am working with Avid liquid 7.20, but I bought An Aja Kona. So, I need The Avid liquid Chrome XE in order for the Aja to work properly, but this product has been discontinued. I found in Pinnacle's page a Liquid chrome XE upgrade, but it says that it will work with liquid 7 or prior. My question is: Can I upgrade to liquid chrome xe from the liquid 7.20?

A new version of Clipbrowser is out 2.6.

However it cannot be used with Liquid as it has the same fault as 2.5.

Every clip is imported only as 9.15 duration, and not the true length of the clip if over 9.15.

So keep to version 2.0!

Customer laid a bomb on me.

"I need this Chrome XE and XENA card installed on my computer by Monday (3 days from now,) but I have a Liquid project that I need to keep working on. Once I finish the project you can delete the 7.2 software, but I need the Chrome XE to start work on my HD project."

Can I install Chrome XE and the AJA board, delete 7.2, and open the existing project in Chrome XE?

If not, can I export the fuse in Liquid 7.2, then uninstall the Liquid, install the Chrome XE, and import the fuse?

I can't get any meaningful support from Avid on this one (surprise...)

Difference between Liquid Pro and Chrome XE

What is the difference between Chrome and Pro apart from support for the AHA XenaXE board. Does it support a wider set of codecs? specifically P2 and HDV variants.

I am in the process of speccing out a new NLE system for our edit suites and am curious.

HD timeline to the WEB

G'day

I have several 8 minute videos in 1280x720 50p PAL which I need to get to the WEB.

the client wants to stream them from his WEB site using Windows media player.

I have tried using several of the settings in Liquid, ranging from file sizes 25mb to 200mb, but i'm not that happy with the quality.

Should I be doing something with the Timeline before encoding to .wmv?

Should I be outputing a .avi to a seperate encoder, like Procoder?

I've had Xe and EX1s for some time but because I've a lot of legacy distribution I've mostly just converted to DV first and then edited. So, just got around to tweaking the system and setting up for HiDef editing. All has gone well with one annoying exception: audio/video in the preview pane is out of sync. Sync on the timeline is no problem. Is there a place I can adjust this?

Greetings,

At the small shop where I work, we are starting to dabble in shooting and editing hd. We use the Panasonic P2 format.

The frame size is 1280x1080. I do not see this framesize in any of the timeline presets.

When I use one of the available presets, the video does not look as sharp as one would expect.

Any suggestions as to how I should proceed would be appreciated.

hi to all of you out there

I have an problem with the new clipbrowser software from sony since the 2.5 update all my renderd out mxf files are only 9sec and 15 frames long in liquid with the previous version of the browser it was all fine i tried it on different of my chrome xe machines and they all get the same problem!

The mxf on its own is ok it runs in adobe premiere cs4 in the whole length!

any idea?

importing mxf XDCAM HD

hi to all

i´ve got an question i got problems with importing mxf files! Liquid is importing it but only video no audio and then some clips are to short as their original length! Any Idea

the mxf file format is XDCAM HD but it doesn´t come from the disk i got it as an file .mxf

The format of the file is Editing - XDCAM HD 422 i50  (1920x1080, 50Mb/s)

Is it perhaps an codec problem?  i can transcode it with other software but it takes time and i can´t get it why it should not work? Liquid does support xdcam hd or i´m wrong

Importing Premiere captured clips (with aja xena card and codec)

Hi, please help!!!!,in a new instalation,we are trying to use in the liquid chrome xe (7.20 build without last dx10 patch) the video clips captured in 2 workstations with aja xena and adobe premiere cs3.They are using tje Aja quicktime mov to make the files,but when they try to import in the chrome,the programs shut down to desktop withou any warning.

There is a specific preset in premiere to allow chrome import captured clips with aja xena lhe ?.with the aja avi preset,chrome only show a green video.

Specs: 1x xw8600 8 gb ram ati 1900 xtx 512 + raid fibber channel + aja xena lhe +chrome xe 7.20 + win xp 32 sp2

2x xw8600 8 gb ram quadro fx1700 512 + raid fibber channel + aja xena lhe + adobe cs3 + win xp 64bit (driver 3.5 aja x64)

HDV tape output errors - Chrome Xe

I haven't been one to suffer with too many tech issues but as luck has it we've hit a road block on this one.
I have an HDV project/sequence. I need to record to HDV tape. I keep getting tape output failure messages. Apparently Liquid Xe sees the deck as I have deck control but I cannot view video through the firewire/deck. Thus the output failure. I have also tried this on our Liquid Pro system as well.

My HDV deck for this project is a Sony V1U camcorder. I have the camcorder set to HDV IO. Any ideas? Thx!

AE settings for output as m2v

I am very interested in using m2v output from AE CS3 into Liquid Chrome for quality image with the added benefit of smaller file size than uncompressed avi.

It has been suggested that it is better to use make movie than to export. Could someone help me understand the settings one should use in the output module of AE to achieve a 25mb output.

Vbr or cbr ?

Quality setting... main setting etc?

I have experimented and I seem to be missing something. I have had better success exporting as a m2v than the m2v files I make with the render que.

Any info would be appreciated.

Struggling with display problems on XE

Hi everybody,

since i have my chrome XE i´m struggling with some strange display problem with my ATI x1950. This is what happens:
Once in a while (on some days very often and on some days not) my video inlays in liquid are going black and the Xena output freezes too. This happens on a very irregular base and the error is not repeatable. Mostly i can see the inlay again while assigning and editing a classic clip effect (but just during effect edit mode). When turning back to the timeline the inlay is black again. All i get from the timeline or the source viewer is the audio signal.
So i have to restart liquid each time when this happens.

What i´ve tryed without any improvement was to reinstall liquid as well as the xena drivers.
So next I tryed some different ATI driver versions (catalyst 6.6, 6.12, 7.7, 8.3 and the latest 9.2)
Unfortunately i couldn´t find a working download for the recomended catalyst 6.2 (the ones i found didn´t work due to .inf errors and ati doesn´t offer this version for download anymore)
So if anybody has a working installation routine for the catalyst 6.2 it would be great if you could offer me a download.

So if someone has any idea ....

Okay, it is one of a few things to answer this question: "Where are all of the Chrome Xe users??" This area is EMPTY!

Possibilities:
1. Only 6 people purchased Chrome Xe.
2. It is so good, and so perfect, that noone has any problems, and thus no reason to forum.
3. There is another forum somewhere.

Anyone care to comment??

I just bought an LHe card w/ Chrome Xe for a great deal... Im anxious to learn more about it before it arrives. When I get it, I want to be ready to throw it in and get started!

revisit AE-Chrome integration

I shot a greenscreen setup with a Panasonic p2 camera at dvc pro 50. I brought the video into AE CS3. Used the keylight filter. This worked great.

I now want to bring this processed video with alpha and audio into Chrome. I have been rendering out from AE to an uncompressed AVI. This looks great but very big files.

Any other thoughts for smaller file size but include alpha and audio?

I have experimented with mpeg 2 render output, but not much luck. Plus I would have to make a separate video file for alpha.
