What I do for complex menu testing is I build the VIDEO_TS directory using a built-in option that replaces the actual videos with blanks. This lets me quickly generate the entire menu structure. I test it using a 3rd party DVD player (for simple menus you can use a freeware player, which includes WMP and Vlan's VLC player). Then I build the full DVD and test it before burning.

In general, unless you're doing something complex (and by that I mean programming the DVD engine manually) the menu simulation feature in DVDLab is good enough to show you how things will work. IMHO of course.

I'm going to correct myself; you can preview the video and the chapter marks in Pro Tools. You can't preview the menu operation. There is a limited menu preview available in DVDLab (it shows what will happen when you select the various menu options), but there isn't a full-function preview available if that's what you were referring to.

The preview is part of the Pro Tools add-on (included with DVDLab Pro).

About DVDLAB PRO, a friend is working with since one month ago, but he says Lab Pro does not have a preview section!!!, is this true?

I like the preview in AL 7.2 to verify the final project, how to check it in DVD LP?

If you have Photoshop (and it must be Photoshop, not Photoshop Elements or a different application that writes PSD files) then you can do it as Sylvain describes. The easiest way to use a menu that has a smooth single colored background. Make the menu with the text and place the image you want to appear next to all of the lines of text. Then you can add a square, the same color as the background, that you can make disappear when that menu item is selected. That will reveal the heart (or whatever) below.

This does require that you know how to use layers in Photoshop. For a simpler way, take a look at DVDLab from MediaChance. That's what I predominantly use for DVD authoring (along with a lot of other authors). It's very easy to make this kind of menu.

Maybe you can try designing menus with Photoshop and put your special effects on the Highlight layer.

But the Liquid's DVD authoring is more limited compared to dedicated software like Encore DVD.

Not sure how the name of the trick is, but that I want to do is in the DVD menu evry time I select the chapter and object apears, I mean I have 4 chapters with text only, and I want selecting the text a heart or any othe imagen shows it self, Is this possible with LW 7.2?

Other cool effect is when having text and a video window in the same dvd menu, selecting the text the video change, Is this possible in AL 7.2?
