I am going to close this thread because I think some of the information being given here is not in the best interest of users. It is best at this time to avoid all DirectX 10 cards from both nVidia and ATI until the patch with the re-written render engine is released. The nVidia cards do not work at all and the ATI cards are still questionable. For best results with Liquid it is best to go with what we know for sure works and that is the earlier DirectX 9 cards from both companies and I have always preferred ATI over nVidia especially if you are using the Pro version of Liquid.

Fact are this: If you are not going to use GPU effects, buy the 2900, it works just as good as the 190/1950 and is not 3 year old technology. If you are going to use GPU effects, there is a gamma issue with them on 2900 that you may need to correct manually if you wish to proceed.

So, the above is not fact, we should be Very careful with what we say to other users, they might want to believe us, there are low resolution probs with the 2900 card even with gpu transitions, not only with filters, several editing users have noticed this, just read the forum, this is not about old or new tech I believe, until we get a fix, it is better to use the old and certified tech so an ATI card from the 1600 - 1950 serie or an Nvidia from the 7600 - 7950 serie will do best together with certified drivers.

Someone would have to buy one, they have been out here for a few weeks. But with the potential for serious problems I doubt anyone will. The first tester will likely be the one how buys a pre-built machine and gets one with it by accident.

Steve, don´t know about the other cards but the 2900 is not ok with a workaround, the colour defects might be possible to correct, demands some unnecessary work of course but the less in resolution is not possible to correct, that "blurry or something" was a very good description from davidus.

That's not my question. My question is, if you're willing to do without GPU effects, can you get away with nVidia 8xxx cards. There are a couple of users at the moment who are experiencing problems with their nVidia 8xxx cards and we've suggested that they stop using GPU effects for the time being (while waiting on new (older) cards). They report that excluding GPU effects does not entirely solve their rendering problems and that surprises me. I was looking for some clarification on this issue.

I have had others report to me (not in the forum) that going with CPU and Classic effects does not always resolve these issues. For the time being, I think it is best to stick with the earlier cards that we know work correctly until the rewrite of the render engine is released.

With rendered video on my 8500 GT, the video blinks during the duration of a CPU dissolve effect...

My ATI is almost as fast as a 1950 Pro (little slower). I think that the driver is ok, I made 2 48-50 timelines with that. Not problems in general. I can't see a real difference in Liquid.

I'm guessing your Sapphire 1950GT 512 uses the same chipset and everything that would equal my ATI X1950 then, is that correct. Do you see a difference in the newest driver over the last?
