For around $1.1K, they sell a time-shift HDTV DVR that'll (if it does what their literature says it does) will run circles around what any software I've been able to find for MS Windows.

[According to their literature] The Mac mini not only records antenna or cable HDTV automatically, on a user programmable schedule. It also allows editing of the HDTV recording (for example, to remove commercials), and to string together segments into a single continuous video.

It's about time!

That technology should have been at hand on the Microsoft machines a decade ago.

note:

edited by Bryce9 to add the decimal point between the ones in "$1.1K".

pinnacle TVCenter Pro v 4.98:

I've had my pinnacle HDTV tuner card since late '08. But I was using it with my MS Vista Media Center DVR (time shift recording) software.

That software has malfunctioned.

So I just successfully installed and registered my pinnacle TVCenter Pro v 4.98 software.

Under "TVCenter Pro Settings", is a category named "Timeshifting".

I click that option, but all that pops up is a seemingly marginally related configuration screen. I see nothing in there about which channel I want to record, at what hour on which day, etc.

Is that not what "Timeshifting" is about?

a) does pinnacle offer any such time shift recording software?

b) if so, how can I get it?

c) if that's not what the "Timeshifting" option is; what is that option for, within my current pinnacle TVCenter Pro v 4.98 software?

Thanks

Bryce
