Video and audio out from the hi 8 camera is connected to the vid and aud input to the digital camera. The digital camera is connected to the computer via the fire wire cable. Studio will not start the hi 8 camera so you have to do that yourself.

Studio would not allow me to do a pass thru from a digital camera. It will only take a tape or drive camera. I had to purchase a Moviebox to do it. Moviebox will do a S-Video but I have never been satified with the results. Quite often I would get a lot of dropped frames with the moviebox and forget recording in anything but AVI.

Welcome to the forum Jesus,

The cable you are seeking is a Firewire Cable and if you click on this LINK you should see a picture showing the connectors on the cable.

Of course you need to check your PC and Camera to but I'm certain the camera end is correct because I have used this on my Sony Hi-8

Hope that helps

OOOooops!!!

Jumped the gun a bit there, sure the firewire cable will fit your PC BUT not the Hi-8 camera. My apologies for that . My only excuse would have to be that I have several different cameras here and my brain was not properly in gear .

To go from Hi-8 to your PC you will need some form of analogue - DV convertor to use the Firewire input. Maybe someone on the forum could recommend a suitable one to use as I haven't used one for quite a while. When I need one I use the passthrough facility on my Digital-8.
