 b.  To clarify - when I said restart, that means to save/close the project then reopen it.  Try it.  See if your spanner setting return to where they were BEFORE or as I see, spanner setting are lost.  Seems like a bug, as does my item a that you confirmed, that ironically works for me most of the time, but do not believe was the intended implementation.
