Probably not much help for now, but there's a plugin in After Effects called "Unmult" and it's sole purpose is to remove the color black from any video file that AE will accept. Once that's done, I'm able to export the particle file as either an uncompressed avi file or a QT file with an alpha channel.I don't have PS24 so can't test directly.

 This sounds like something PS could use. Try these files, the MOV is 119MB, the AVI is 1.04GB.
