Eightysix86: Is there a separate thread that lists all the bugs we have encountered?
Valid point. Worth a specific thread, except that it would have to be limited to very clearly structured entries:
- User PC specs,
- Source Video specs,
- Project settings, length, content,
- Effect or operaton that prompts a problem,
- The distortion, crash, or other problem caused by the problem.
Unless the problems are very succinctly described, there is no way to recreate them in a way that allows for diagnosis or fix. Perhaps Avid people have received private reports or made acknowledgements.
Unfortunately:
- The threads are not structured in any formal way or with so much as a subject line that allows one to search them; it's like trying to match socks in a six-month bin of laundry.
- The threads get hijacked by feature requests, or non-specific complaints.
- Some people report they are satisfied with the product, or that they simply got used to it, which makes one wonder whether the others' complaints have foundations or are limited to the specifics of their system or what they are trying to do.
At this rate, an Avid 2.0 will appear and no one will remember what specific bugs needed to be fixed or whether they mattered. One can always pray, but miracles sometimes need a few millennia to come to fruition, while nasty stuff is apt to pop up every day.
Or is there a neatly redacted "known issues" thread somewhere?
