Who says there's anything wrong with AS?
Half of the 9 AS buyer reviews at the US Amazon site rate the product five-stars and one makes flattering remarks about customer support. Two ("fabulous," "great") were written by people who have not reviewed anything else. The other two were by people who rate everything 5-stars. Curiously, the average buyer rating for AS is higher than that for PS 15.
Anyway, if Amazon feedback influences a company more than a user forum, why go on *issing into the wind?
Or would that spoil the joy of unrequitted conmiseration?
Anyway, my theory remains that Avid's budgets are tight, since the firm remains in the red and the AS 1.0 kickoff was too feeble to get approval for as many fixes as might be wanted. I suspect that the developers and support know all about the "issues," but management has told the developers and support not to make waves or bear any bad news.
Meanwhile, a 64-bit Sibelius 7 has appeared and received from very positive reviews. Contrary to the video software division, where MC is the (sagging) lead lady and everone else is an "extra," the music software division appears to be rolling ahead and may actually be making a little money. Overhead costs (Gary, Kirk, Ron, Ken, Chris, Jason) muddle the consolidated bottom line, though.
A two-penny wager: no PS or AS updates until late 2012 in conjunction with Windows 8. However, by that time, competitors will be rolling out Android versions for quad core tablets.
