Actually, nothing has changed with S14U.  It's the same as S12 and earlier versions; its a NLE video editing program.  Smartsounds is integrated into various other NLEs.  As such, Smartsounds could be used with S14U.  So, the problem comes down to a disagreement between Pinnacle (Avid) and Smartsounds... $money.  Smartsounds wants $X and Pinnacle will pay $X.  It amounts to a disageement between the owner and the buyer.  Yes, Smartsounds does sell to professional quality NLE systems, but must realize that Pinnacle Studio is NOT a professional system; thus, they should sell the system for less.... because Studio costs the consumer MUCH less.  Surely, you two can come to an agreement, or compromise.
