 Some of you may already be familiar with Avid.  But for those who are not, Avid got its start in video editing more than 20 years ago – in fact most everything you see on TV and at the movies was created with tools from Avid.  Today, Avid makes a whole range of things for creative people – stuff that goes far beyond video editing.  Avid is behind everything from film, TV, and news production, to music creation, composition and production, and even live sound consoles for major concert tours.

I've got the DVD collection with all the extras and in an interview with Peter Jackson, in which he talks about using three AVID machines for this and that.

Notice, he did not say three computers using AVID software, he said three AVID machines!
