I didn't 'upgrade' to 48 kHz, that was the default setting of PCM audio for an AVI render out of Studio.

When I did the make file, the video was unchecked and the file type for saving changed from AVI to Wave and thus the 48 kHz. I didn't want to make any changes from Studio settings.

Absolutely right about the going from 22 to 48, if anything it adds distortion.
