Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...
I hesitate to put this up for two reasons:
1. This is a work-in-progress. So, it is not yet a complete piece. But, better to get feedback now rather than later.
2. There's so much great stuff posted here, I get intimidated...
Anyway,
For the past year or so, I've been concentrating more on audio production, having learned Ableton Live and now getting my feet wet with Pro Tools. In the process, I produced several tracks for others. And recently, I recorded and mixed my own. The next logical step was to put it all to video.
This piece encompasses some 33 years' worth of footage, going back to my days at NYU. Basically, it's a whole lotta "me" with some New York City thrown in the background: Baby Boomer Bell Curve
Feel free to rant. I've got my combat helmet on!

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...
Andy,
This is one of the few music videos that I can say I honestly enjoyed watching. The morphing of the age of a few people, mixed with the black & white to color fading was just enough not to be too cheezy. I think you did a great job mixing stills and video together as well. The audio was very clear with great timing.
Guess I've ranted enough.

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...
Ok here is a short piece of mine http://www.vimeo.com/2244478
It was done for a friend and extracted from a longer video of this trip. Generously he offered one week on the boat for auction for our local north western charity Cancer Care. He had hoped to raise £6000 as a reserve but this piece was played out before the auction to an audience of 250 people on a 103 inch Panasonic Plasma screen, where it looked fantastic. It raised £12750, and prompted the winning bidder to vote, so I was very pleased.
Hope you like. Dave

Here it goes....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3F-IVoLCPg
This is a trailer for a longer production for a local GAA (Irish Traditional Sport and general culture) Club. I shot it on a Sony Z1U in HDV and obviously edited with Liquid and compressed it for youtube with Sorenson Squeeze 5. Personally I am quite happy with how it turned out. Although after compressing with Sorenson certain shots were darker than the original. I would recommend watching it in High Quality. Cheers!

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...
This is an exsample of something I do to improve my Sports Videos.I use the play by play from a local Radio Station. I get with the guys from the local stations that broadcast the games and use their Audio feed. You can do this one of two ways, you can come off of a Radio headset port, if your getting a good signal, to the line in on your cam, or you can plug stright into the Radio guys set up (Which is what I do). The kids love it and it works great, makes things a lot more interesting.
I'm also going to brag a little bit (Hope you don't mind), my Nephew is the Coach of this team and this was last weeks state semi final playoff game. They are going to the State Championship !!!!!!!! They have outscored their oppennets 125-14 over the last three playoff games, they are 13-0 ranked #1 in div AA in the State of Va and on fire. The best thing about this season is that we have 4 kids going to Div 1 collage teams Go Bees !!!!

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...
Here is a short piece I did on our Christmas Dive, more showing the scenery of the area in which I call my backyard. Its the first video I uploaded to youtube in HD. While I am really happy with the final upload quality in HD mode, the video quality in Normal Mode is abysmal. So watching this in HD mode is a must. Let me know what you think.

First, I loved it! Second, the music? Third, being a North East wreck diver myself (NY, NJ, LI) you have anything from under the water? What camera did you use? We all dive doubles w/stage bottles or rebreathers. Done a lot of wrecks from the USS San Diego to the Andrea Doria. Safe diving!

Thanks Tony. The music is "God Moving Over The Face of Waters" by Moby. Yeah
I have quite a few underwater videos including one of the HMS
Thistlegorm, which since you like wrecks you might be interested in.
If you go to my Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/irishdigitaldiver all my videos are
there. For surface video I use a Sony HVR Z1U, which is in
full 1080i res(HDV). For underwater video I use a Canon MV800 with an
Ikelite housing, although I am seriously considering upgrading my
underwater rig to maybe a Canon HV30 and Ikelite/Equinox housing for
HDV capture. Where I dive it is generally shallow rarely below 30metres. So a single tank of air can last 2 or sometimes 3 dives.

Very impressive underwater videoing, using amateur equipment. Nicely videoed & Edited, with alternating shots of sea-life, divers & shipwreck. All perfectly clear, showing a lot of detail. Especially the BSA motorbike
I enjoyed watching them & thanks for sharing.

Re: Son of Show your Liquid Stuff...
My workflow is somehow mixed today, using several apps to get the best quality.
One of the biggest challenges is to remake old movies, as they alrady are mistreated from the beginning, they can´t take so much more until the results are not so viewable any longer.
The rifle shooting club that I have been a member of for the latest 46 years asked me if I could try to do something from a couple of old VHS tapes showing a big competition in 1984.
The origin tapes no longer exists and the tapes that I got has been recopied to new tapes a couple of times I think, also the editing was made by copying tape to tape, I had to manually remove cuts and replace them with transitions.
The origin colour was a total disaster, I did what I could to get it a little better.
Capturing of the tapes is done with my canopus advc 300 bob into Liquid.
I have used the Neat video filter to remove a lot of Vhs noise.
The colour correction is done in MC, could as well have been done in Liquid but I wanted to learn and see.
The media encoding is done with Expression Encoder 2.
