Very small "Gaps" & clip fragments are what causes the timeline/transition/exporting problems with editing in all versions of PS.  I have suggested flagging them with bright Red in the Render status line.  That would solve 99% of all the problems in both PS21.5 and previous style editing, and PS22 style editing.  The small gaps & clip fragments just go visibly unnoticed  on the timeline and cause the majority of all problems.

It could be a configuration option to Red flag Gaps and short clips under a specified length in frames.  This would also catch the small 3-4 frame clips that get pushed to the ends of adjacent clips during edits. These little 3-4 frame clips that flash during transitions.

Such a simple feature to add that would save countless hours of frustration exporting, and going back to fix transition issues, then exporting again, etc...

Yep, I will escalate it to Corel.

You never know if it's simple or not.
It's possible that something that looks like simple is just too risky to touch and product manager decides to skip it.

You never know.  Sure would save a lot of time for all PS users and frustration for new PS users ashould documented by the amount of new users on the forum with transition issues.  It never fails that you don't notice one or two clip fragments in transitions during preview, but once exported they appear.  A couple simple fixes, but then you have to export all over again.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I have created a feature request in our bug database, and we will discuss in our weekly meeting. 

We would all thank you very much for that.  It would solve so much frustration for so many new and dedicated PS users.  There could be a config setting to adjust the number of frames or less to determine turning the progress bar BRIGHT RED for that clip.

I have a practice after completing a project zooming in all the way and using the arrow key. This way I step through and look for this exact thing. The other thing to add would be to show the clips that have been extended past the end. Sometimes when you are zoomed out and you are trimming / stretching the clips. It will snap to what looks like the end. If you zoom in closer it has snapped to the clip above or below that is very close. This will show the light purple in the end of the clip that has repeated the frame. If it is just a few frames and you are not zoomed in you will not see it. This with a transition connecting 2 clips that have this or sometimes just one has caused renders to hang or error.

 

I have seen it repeat that previous frame for the entire duration of the next clip too.

rIght click on the timeline after the end and select "close all gaps"

Yes, but it would close even gaps that user does not wish to close.
