    Export setting: Youtube

    Hi,

I would like to have an export choice that is compatible with youtube. So when i export their should be i choice like "mp4 (youtube)" 1080 p and 4k and 8k and whatever format youtube uses.

Beacuse now im filming in with one-two diffrent formats, exporting it in another, then youtube change format on their site when i upload it.  It would be easier if there just were an export for youtube choice. Like best possible format for a fast up-load and good quality. I have seen this on other video editing programs.

Maybe you only need to ad a smal text where you choice format like  "(youtube)"  So it will be clear and very easy to know what format youtube likes.

    Re: Export setting: Youtube

I do not believe that you can stop YouTube from processing the uploaded videos, whatever export settings you use in Studio (YouTube will use bespoke hardware to compress the video to the smallest size possible while keeping acceptable quality, and also to produce a range of different resolution versions for devices that don't support HD or ultra HD playback.

You can already make your own "YouTube compatible" export preset in Studio; in the Exporter choose the format as H.264/AVC and choose custom settings. Then save the settings as a user-defined preset.

Choose your custom export settings to give you an exported MP4 video that has acceptable quality when viewed locally, and does not result in an exported file that is so large that it becomes difficult to upload.

    Regards,
    Richard

    Re: Export setting: Youtube

    Thx for your reply

"I do not believe that you can stop YouTube from processing the uploaded videos." -Maybe true, I dont know. But I have seen this setting on other video editing programs and the reason for that setting was that youtube should not change format when you upload.  If H264/AVC for an example is the best setting for youtube. Then i think it would be a "youtube label" on that setting just to make it easy. My guess is that at least 50% uses Pinnacle for youtube. But im a new user and maybe I should just learn the settings for myself and not have it served to me

    Re: Export setting: Youtube

Even if you match YouTube requirements they will systematically reencode your videos to optimize the size of the files on their servers.

If i remember rightly it was for this type of reason that the "Export to Youtube" tool that we had some years back was scrapped, as the goalposts kept moving and it was impossible to keep up with the changes

No, there is a technical reason for this : they kept modifying their API and Corel had to deal regularly with their modifications.
