    the files are too big!

need to make 26 separate videos which will be combined into 2 videos.

each of the 26 is around 2 minutes long and contain around 24 images.

it has to fit on a regular dvd with a simple menu.

lowering the quality from 90 percent to 50 percent made no difference.

    HELP!!

    and keep well

    thanks

I don't understand how lowering the quality in the Make file tab would make any difference in the final DVD.

Re: the files are too big!

If a dvd holds 650 gb and I have 26 files plus menu etc then I guess the files would be better at say 20gb each.

    Thanks

Re: the files are too big!

Whatever the size of the files that you want to burn on your DVD, they will be re-encoded by Studio during the exporting process, to match the right codec and the right final size to fit the DVD.

    How do I do that?

It is on a windows 7 if that matters

    Thanks

Re: the files are too big!

In Studio, whatever the size of the files you add to the timeline, if you export a DVD, everything will be re-encoded to fit the disk. You have nothing else to do than launch the DVD export with the "Fit to disk" option.

12.1 - i cannot find a FIT TO DISK option is it "automatic quality" ?

also how does kbits/sec now at 8500 affect anything?

also there is no point making huge files that will be shrunk when on the disk - how do i make them smaller?

    thanks for your help

Yes. That's the option you need. Sorry, but you must realize that Studio 12 is a 13 years old software. Memories are vanishing slowly.

It's the bitrate = the amount of data used by the encoder to process 1 second of video. There can't be a higher bitrate for a DVD. Is it the value calculated by Studio with the Automatic quality setting ?

Why are you constantly talking about "making files" ? You are editing video clips in Studio, and I repeat, whatever their size, Studio will make a DVD with them.

    read the first post!

i will be making 26 files and then putting them on the DVD and hopefully bluray

so why take up the resource space with needlessly large files!

    thanks

    I don't understand your workflow.

You're going to create these files with Studio ?

Re: the files are too big!

create 26 files in pinnacle studio 12.1

then, computer permitting, start a new project with a menu and the 26 files divided in to 2 menu things

     thanks

10 files were 265GB and there was no more room on the laptop memory, so we are using a separate drive to park them.

Re: the files are too big!

It's not necessary to export the files before starting a new project to create the DVD. You can make all the editing in Studio for each of your 26 parts and create directly the DVD. This way, no waste of space on your drives.

Re: the files are too big!

    ONCE AGAIN YOU ARE CORRECT

i put them all in as images.

    it did not crash.

also i remembered to keep deleting auxiliary files.

now to the menu links and music

    Thank you very much
