It's called the bitrate : the amount of data used by the encoder to process one second of video.

In principle, the higher it is, the bigger is the exported file and the better is the visual quality of the video.

Just to add, increasing the bitrate won't make for significatly greater clarity of video pictures that contain little or no moving content. The faster and more radical the movement - the changes between subsequent frames - the more important a high bitrate is.

You should look at the bitrate of the original camera files. There is little point in exporting using a bitrate that is much higher than that, because the camera has already lost the information you are seeking to restore. There will be re-encoding losses when you export using the same bitrate as the camera, but they will not be significant for one generation.

Do your camera files look better when you view them in a media player than they do when you play them in Studio?

Before you export, your timeline needs to be set to HD 1920*1080. I'd suggest you use a frame rate of  60P but given the Studio 15 doesn't have these options, use 29,97.

You need to export the file to HD 1920*1080, frame rate as above.

If the pictures are still pictures (that means not even using Pan and Zoom) the bitrate will not make any significatnt difference as long as it is not too low. Hiowver, give that you are using such an old version of Studio, the maximum looks as if it is 12Mbps. That should be fine. What you can do is make a few test files. I'd guess that you can go quite a bit lower than that without noticing a drop in quality.

they are 2 minute videos should i make them avi?

then they will be combined into a 30 min video- avi would mean a huuuuuge file so what format is best?

Why are you making a series of 2 minute vidoes and then combining them? The will lead to generational loss.

I don't remeber if PS12.1 will make HD AVIs, I really can't think that far back.

A 2 min video with six seconds long images can be done on this win7 laptop with pin 12.1.

If I did all 15 videos at once it would crash.

Pin 12 makes  the best dvd menus.

Some software do not even make menus anymore
