Re: Transferring Plug-ins to Pinnacle Studio 16 / Avid Studio

Thanks for posting. It makes it a lot easier for us non techy guys.

One note about Prodad products, Vitascene 2, Heroglyph 4 and Mercalli 2. If you download the current file from your email and install it as mentioned in the video, it will contain the plugin for Avid2 aka Studio 16. They actually call it Avid2 plugin. I did not uninstall any of them first, rather I reinstalled or maintenance. They work great in Studio 16.

Yep, I saw the Avid Studio 2 option when I downloaded Heroglyph again.I posted about it on my Facebook page (see the linkk on page one of this thread). Pretty funny.

    Re: Pinnacle Studio 16 Review

Thanks for putting it out. I do think that you rushed it a bit. Maybe it could have been a video on each tab? When you were on the timeline, it would have been nice to see the drop down menus for changing project formats and changing the timeline display to reflect the Storyboard and/or the Navigator. Same in the Export. To show all the different formats would help give the person a "visual" tour. The same in the Effects Editor. When you click or hover the mouse over something. And, there is that wonderful new feature, Show Enhanced Tool Tips which when you click on it, will take you online to where the tutorials are and shows you what that particular topic is. Even the Control Panel has things that would interest new PS users who are migrating over. They can not only set their project settings there, they can change them on the timeline without creating a new project.

I know you put a lot of effort into these tutorials. It isn't easy, but it is greatly appreciated by the PS16/Avid Studio community!

    Re: Pinnacle Studio 16 Review

Hey, thanks for the constructive criticism. I have to admit that I left out those things as I wanted to get most of the main features in with as little time as possible. The video already went over how long I wanted it to be so I might as well just went all the way. Thanks for always being honest and always providing me with your feedback.

You do a tremendous job putting together these videos and showing how the complex can be done.

With a program like PS16, it's a tough choice what to leave in and what to leave out. Maybe tut's on specific areas of the interface so that people migrating for PS15 could see it isn't as difficult or overwhelming as it can appear?

Again, thanks for the work you do. I enjoy and always learn something watching your videos!

That's a great idea Tony. I think I will do some tutorials on each section of the interface as you mentioned before.

    Re: Pinnacle Studio 16 Review

Hey, what's up?  Got a question for you.  I wrote to you about using Camtasia and exporting video that played nice with Avid Studio.  How about the other way around?  Do you have any recommendations about what format to export video from AS that will work in Camtasia?

I shot in 1080 60i, exported that from AS in MP4 720p standard setting.  When importing that into CAM it doesn't really work that well.  It's very clunky and the audio seems to be really degraded.  Wondering if you had any luck with this. I want to preserve as much quality as I can.  I do most of the major editing in AS, and then send it to CAM so I can produce Flash videos with hotspots and chapters.

Thanks buddy.  Keep up the good work

I haven't attempted to edit videos from AS to Camtasia. I'll give it a try and tell you what I come up with.

Figured it out.  MP4 works great but you have to make sure the sound is in 44.1kHz.  Mine was set to 48kHz.  For some reason recording captures in 48k and importing files in 48k doesn't work with CS

Re: Vote For Our New Intro

This is kinda off the subject! lol..but I have a question I hope u can answer. I just purchased Pinnacle Studio 16 Ultimate. I love it! The best editor for the money with tons of pro tools! I want to get the "Exclusive Class on Demand DVD Training Offer", for which I have a promo code that was in the box to get for free. The website I am directed to is, "Pinnaclesys.com/CODS4STUDIO", then to enter the code at check-out process. The only problem is that takes me to AVID web site. I did manage to find the pinnacle website and under training and other accessories tab find the training course. When I enter the code at checkout I get a invalid code error. Whats up with that? Anyone else complain about that? Any help would be appriciated..thanks!

Hey Goran. I have no idea what's going on there. If you go to ClassOnDemand on Facebook and communicate what happened I'm sure Paul or one of his employees will get back with you.

Vigor, I have to agree...good job on the tutorials. Now I have a puzzling question. I had some Bravo filters from way back to Studio 10, (I think actually before that)and Studio 14. Packs 1 and 2. I followed the directions for transfer and it worked great...to a point. Not all of them are working. For instance, in Bravo Pack 2 they have this cool snow effect . Also in this pack they have a rain effect. The snow is working fine,(well ,with a little tweaking..you have to combine it with another effect to work..the same way that Adorage needed to be tweaked way back with Studio 8) but the rain effect doesn't show at all when I right click to bring up the effects editor. Both .fex files are there, but only one is working. Do you, or does anyone know why this would be the case? They both still work fine in Studio 14 by the way.

    Re: Pinnacle Studio 16 Review

Here is a LINK where you can see what is actually compatible with PS16 from previous versions. While some might work, as a whole, they usually don't and/or break PS16 (causing it to not respond).

Heck, I wish Stagetools worked. It will show up and do "something", but working as programmed is something that it did not do.

Thanks buddy.  Here is the fruit of my hard work.

The student interns in my office wanted to put together a video to show at a reunion, so they suggested "Gangnam Style".

There is a scene when I rotate in a circle with all the students around me.  I wanted a cool effect where I could easily drop frames from a segment of video to give it a real choppy flavor.  I could not find this at all within AS.  So I turned preview to "Best" and captured my second preview monitor with Camtasia Studio at 5 frames per second.  Then threw that video back into AS, sped it up and threw a vignette on it.  I like the results.  Thought I saw an effect that could do this in AS. (Other than manually taking frames out one at a time).
