    After upgrade of OS

    Hi,

After upgrading til W10 all my installed activation keys are gone.

    Studio 14Ultimate will run - but i.e. Mpeg4 files cannot work .

    Have tried activating software again.

My serial number is there in the license list - but the field with Password is empty.

Please give me some guideline to fixing this.

    thanks

You are lucky. Keys regeneration is broken for many people.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

Nice to be lucky sometimes :)

    Another problem has come up.

Pinnacle Studio 14U will not see any of my network drives.

I have archived all my old projects on a NAS - and it is a real pain having to copy data to local harddisk - and network drives used to work under Win7.

    Any solutions would be appreciated.

    thanks

A discussion that might help despite it's for PS19.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

Found out I seem to be missing some functions/effects after my upgrade.

Under Win7 my Pinnacle14 had the effects in the "Studio HD RTFx" pack available. Today only 3 in the pack is available - the rest needs to be activated - but it will not happen.

I have all effects in the "Studio Ultimate RTFx" pack available.

    Input appreciated

Corel confirmed that such a key is not existing. Would you post a screenshot of your Studio HD RTFx category of effects ?

    Re: After upgrade of OS

Above screenshot with Videoeffects - Naming in Danish.

6 effects needs "activation" - 3 are ok.

Some of the not activated effects I have been using in older versions of Pinnacle and with Pin14 running Win7.

Today - editing some of the old projects is impossible because effects needs to be activated - and hitting "Aktiver Effektpakke" button has no impact.

    Thanks

    File attached.

BTW - "Email Notification" on replys in this forum does not seem to work.

3 Effects in pck working - 6 needs to be activated. Hitting Activation has no impact.

Pacs that needs activation are (in my own translation)

    "Automatic color correction

    Stabilisation

    Noice reduction

    Pan and Zoom

    Dreamlight

    Rotate"

The ones I have used in old projects are "Automatic Color Correction", "Pan/Zoom" and "Rotate" - I need those urgently to edit old projects.

    Thanks

    Re: After upgrade of OS

The activation of the effects in the group "Studio HD RTFX" should be handled completely by the Studio 14 installer - and does not require you to obtain or regenerate any activation keys. So I would suspect that the Windows upgrade from 7 to 10 might have in some way disturbed the Studio 14 installation...

If you did not reinstall Studio 14 after upgrading Windows, something to try would be first a repair install, and if that fails, do a complete uninstall and reinstall. But in my experience, I "got away with" upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 on two PCs and Studio 14 (in my case Ultimate Collection) continued to work without needing to be repaired or reinstalled.

The provided keys did not work unfortunately.

    Error message:

"Function Not Found" (translated from Danish) screendump attached.

When I did my "redo activationkeys" - I get a similar error stating that "DreamGlow function is not found". Dont know what DreamGlow does or this is related to the missing effects.

     thanks

    Re: After upgrade of OS

I would recommend for you to repair or reinstall Studio 14 again but follow these steps:

    1. To repair Studio 14 insert disc into your computer (do not let your program run).

    2. Open your disc to see the files inside and select the installer program and then right click on it and select "run as administrator"

    3. Follow on screen instructions.

    4. Once completed check Studio 14 again.

NOTE: Some transitions may not work properly due to the graphic card updates being done automatically in Windows 10.

Dreamglow is a program from a previous version of Pinnacle Studio 12 or earlier versions. If not detected just ignore the message.

The Dream Glow effect does exist in Studio 14; it is a "free with registration" giveaway; upon first registration of Studio you would have been emailed an activation key to unlock it. If the "regenerate activation keys" feature and website still worked, you should be able to regenerate that key, if not you can request that a moderator contacts Pinnacle/Corel customer support and obtains an activation key for you.

If you do not enter the activation key, the Dream Glow effect will still be there in the effects list in the video toolbox, but shown as locked (with a treasure chest icon) and you can just ignore it.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

    Attachment: PS14UC_dream_glow.jpg

FWIW the "Dream Glow" efrect should appear in the video toolbox under the category "Studio HD RTFx" (see my attached screen-grab), even if you did not enter the activation key to unlock it. The fact that you received a "Feature not found" error when you tried to insert the activation key suggests that there is a problem with your Studio installation or with the effects database.

In case the effects database is corrupted, you can force a complete rebuild of it by renaming or deleting a few cache files and then launching Studio. On my system the files are here:

    1. Studio14EffectInfo.cache - according to which version of Studio 14 you have (Plus, Ultimate or Ultimate Collection) you may find it in any one of these folders:

    •  C:\ProgramData\Pinnacle Studio Plus
    •  C:\ProgramData\Pinnacle Studio Ultimate
    •  C:\ProgramData\Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Collection

    2. EditorCache.* and EffectCache.* (where the file extension is a random hexadecimal number) - there could be several copies of each file and you will find them in two places and you will need to rename or delete from both places:

    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Pinnacle\Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio 14\Import\programs\PlugIns\RTFx
    • C:\Users\Public\Documents\Pinnacle\Program Files (x86)\Pinnacle\Studio 14\Programs\PlugIns\RTFx

After you have renamed or deleted those files, launch Studio and it shoyuld re-create the files by scanning for what plugins it finds are installed - so if there had been corruption in any of those files that had messed up the list of available effects, hopefully that should be sorted out...

The effects may all then show up in the video and audio toolboxes, but could be shown as locked (with the treasure-chest icon); you could then try inserting the activation keys you had previously received to see if they are now accepted and unlock the plugins.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

Found the dir with few Cache files and renamed. New dir was created - but no changes in the system. Still missing some effects.

Tried reinstalling my S18 from last year - it still doesnt work - Blue screen on startup after "Init Database"

After that I now have lost some effects in S14U and they cannot be activated.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

Interesting (but obviously not useful) to see that the "Dream Glow" effect is now activated, but that the activation status of nearly every other "standard" effect has been "lost".

Do you have any other versions of Studio on that PC other than 14 Ultimate and 18 (Ultimate?)? If not, you might be able to get Studio 14 working again by completely uninstalling, purging stray files and folders that weren't removed by the uninstall and doing a registry cleanup using the old Pinnacle "Regdelete" tool (FYI there's some information and a download link here on the Déclic Vidéo website - tested the download link and it provided a ZIP archive containing several versions of Regdelete - you would only need to extract and use the one for Studio 14).

Some people have also had success at removing junk left behind after uninstalling Studio using tools such as Revo Uninstaller Pro.

A complete uninstall - clean - reinstall cycle might also help with Studio 18 too if its instability was down to some stray junk in one of its working folders; however if the blue screen was the result of a problem with a device driver, with Windows itself or with hardware such as memory or graphics card, you might just arrive back at the blue screen again Sad

But my gut-feeling is that since Studio 14 currently works, albeit with many effects locked, doing the uninstall - clean - reinstall cycle stands a reasonable chance of fixing the issues (completely uninstall both Studio 14 and 18, clean stray files/folders and registry entries belonging to both versions, then reinstall Studio 14 and its content).

    Re: After upgrade of OS

    Thanks Richard,

I have worked abit more with this. On this computer I have been running P14Ult for years with no major problems. Purchased a P18Ult in 2015 - never got it to work - gave up - and kept running P14Ult - but after Win10 upgrade I got into the trouble with missing effects.

I have 2 user accounts on the computer. A local ADMIN - and a "User (Cee5) defined as Admininistrator".I tried to do a "repair" of my P14 installation under the Cee5 user account - it failed - and P14 stopped working - got a BSOD when starting up.....

I then tried logging in as the local "Admin" user on the computer - and P14 now starts up :) - I was able to activate the DreamGlow effect - and some more of my missing effects seem to work (i.e. speed and rotate) - all I need now is the Pic-in-pic and I'm happy (dont use other effects).

It seems to me all I need is to find the activation key for that somewhere. The ones I got from Saby also are accepted - I dont know what they do.

Try by uninstalling Pinnacle Studio 14 and re-install it again.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

Agree - reinstalling is something I need to do.

Is there somewhere I can download a S14Ultimate version ?

The install-download I have is an Upgrade from older versions - I'm afraid to get stuck :)

    Thanks

    Re: After upgrade of OS

No, you can re-install using this Upgrade version. During the install process there is one step where you'll have to enter the serial of a previous version.

    Re: After upgrade of OS

FINALLY - now S14 seems to work with all my effects.

I deinstalled S18 and S14 - ran a Registry-Clean for everything related to old Studio versions (dont know if it was needed).

I installed S14 (yes I needed my old S9 serial for the upgrade to happen - glad I could still find it) - after activation all my effect-codes and the S14 password was there (guess it came down from Pinnacle database).

And the effects I'm in need of (pan/zoom, Speed, lightajustment) are now working - great :)

Think I will drop out on S18 since importing old projects needs so much rework. I dont want to spend time on that with S18. I will wait and see (maybe one day a good cloud based video editing solution will appear)

    Thanks for input and help.
