My Pioneer DVD is working great but I'm not having much luck with the Sony DVD which is older.  It might be the drivers I'm using so I'm going to go check on that issue now.

I'm having the same problem with no device found. I have 2 DVD burner drives - a Pioneer 105 and a new Lightscribe. In version 10 (and all version 10 patches) this was absolutely not a problem - worked great. Kinda feel like so far I wasted the money for the change to version 11 since I can't burn a disc. Hope a fix is in the very near future.

Where is my  "private message" ?   S11 can't find my burner I didn't get a private message.

If you know something share it with the rest of us.

My DVD burners (internal and USB) are not recognized in S11 when they were in S10.

I have done the uninstall/reinstall twice with no help (using the registry editor).  Pinnacle customer service sent me here to post.  Is there anything else I can try?

i do not have Nero installed on my computer but I do have an older version of WinDVD3.  I don't want to uninstall that since it is my only working disc writer right now.  I will uninstall WinDVD3 if it is a guaranteed fix.

Just adding my 2c in the hope that it helps others. Like others, I have been frustrated by the problem of not being able to burn my projects due to "No disc writer device found".

IT NOW WORKS with no patch to Studio !

I have a Win XP Pro SP 2, clean installed 3 months ago. The only other "burning" software (other than XPs own) was Roxio Easy Media 8. I say "was" because I deleted this as it may have been conflicting with Studio. It didn't solve the problem. I plan to reinstall later so I'll let you know if Studio continues to work.

 I then remembered a part of burning that is practically never touched on - the ASPI drivers. I had added the Adaptec drivers (version 4.71) while playing with my Plextor PX-712A drive. As I doubt I actually need them (especially on XP), I removed them again. One reboot later, Studio found my DVD writer (LG GSA H20L). Hurray !

 To save people from a Google, removing Adaptec ASPI 4.71 on 32-bit Windows XP for X86 means removing:

 %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ASPI32.SYS

 %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\WNASPI32.DLL

You don't need to be a "mindreader" to understand that there is a software problem. It happens with any operating system, any record unit, ANY preferences... We have tried them all before posting this forum.

We have an experimental fix for this issue. It will be integrated in the next patch.

Maybe I've sounded unfair with my comment. I appreciate a lot the Pinnacle folks help and I also think it's really useful. In fact, I had solved my problem before entering this forum by reading the Spanish Forum.

I just tried to express my solidarity with people who work for days or weeks on a project and can't finish it because I know the frustration that it means and I usually expect fast solutions for the problem.

Thanks to the Pinnacle people and the guys in this and other forums I've solved a lot of problems and I have got new ideas, so I must thank all of them.

I suspect that all of us have hit the "impossibly frustrated" level at one time or another (at least) in video authoring - and not just with Pinnacle products, either.

Hopefully the next patch coming out this week will help you. I don't have detailed information about the original problem. with DVD burner not recognized. Apparently we had one file which was probably not compatible with every system and causing Studio to not be able to  render a DVD project.

Can you explain this a little further?  I have downloaded DiscAPI3_Build178 and was planning to install it since S11+ doesn't recognize my burner either.  So far, I've been rendering with S11 and burning with NERO.  This is a minor inconvenience but not being able to render would be a major inconvenience.  Is PCLE reasonably certain that installation of the latest patch will not interfere with rendering?

Up to now, all users who received this DiscAPI experimental fix got their burner back in Studio and did not experimented rendering problems. I don't know when a final patch will come and would not expect it immediately due to teh summer time. But this DiscAPI fix is actually a very good answer for the burner not showing up in Studio 11.

Well, ibeck, as you know every system has its own "personality", but I'm using Vista 32 Ult and am running S11.1.0.5219 (S11.1 witrh the patch you refer to) and it's working fine.  That's all I can tell you.

Finally.

 Created a 6 minute test and after a couple of tries to get the app to recognize the DVD-RW in Make Movie mode, I selected the first option "Burn Directly to Disk" and it worked perfectly. I think it will probably work on my 60 minute projects.

Glad I don't have to resort to Nero Express any more.

Now I can concentrate on other "anomalies" (old Ashton-Tate word for bug) in the application and get them cleared up.

I suggest the readme in this zip make it completely clear that the old folder is to be copied "as is" to a new location and renamed and otherwise remain until overwritten by the contents of the zip file. That did not seem clear to me and I created a new file and inserted the contents of the zip which prevented Studio from starting. Studio needed the unchanged files from that old folder to remain untouched.

I downloaded this Zip file and followed the instructions.  I have one CD burner and one External USB connected DVD burner.  Before I installed the zipped files it detected only my CD burner, but now it detects nothing.  I copied the old directory back and now it still detects none of my burner drives.  It simply says none are availab.e  I'll have to use Nero I guess, but does anyone have any suggestions??? Your problem is probably different than the one fixed with the new DiscAPI.

What is the model of your USB burner ?

Did you try to connect it to a different USB port ?

Well, I installed the new .dll files and Studio is burning on my first try.....hmmmmmmm...luck? coincidence? ....I'll wait 'til it's done - but this is encouraging.

My problem was a little different.  Studio 11.1.0.5219 would recognize my DVD burner, but when I would try to burn it wouldn't recognize my media.  I knew the burner worked and I had burnt with this particular brand of DVD before.  I installed this patch and my problem resolved itself immediately.  Thanks!

This appears to work for me...trying to burn now, drives are recognized....

You REALLY need to put this up front as a beta so people can find it rather than having it burried on page 5 of a thread..... it took me almost 3 weeks to notice this....
