That discussion sounds like a different problem with similar symptoms. 

Now I know the probable reason for my Studio 11 Ultimate upgrade being on "back-order"!

I think it might have something to do with having Studio 10 installed.  At least I think it

was for me.  I had the same problem.  However I thought it about time I do a format and do a clean install of all my software.  Installed Studio 11 and everything worked fine.  Recognized the writer, etc.  Once again I am a happy camper.

Nice we have to have for every application a different computer. One for Nero and Alchohol and a special one for Pinnacle.

 

I think fjones52 was not saying a different computer, but just completely uninstalling the prior Pinnacle Studio stuff and then doing a clean install of S11.

Same here! Just tried to "Make Disc" and "No disc writing device found" (I have 2). I had uninstalled 10 before installing 11 and I just uninstalled "Instant DVD Recorder" to see if that had anything to do with it but no joy. I do have Sonic DLA installed but had no trouble with it in any version of 10.

But maybe a good idea???

Your problem almost sounds like those elsewhere on the threads which most likely come from faulty uninstals/reinstals (and/or registry hiccups in combination).  IIRC, Pinnacle development is aware and trying to figure out what's foing on.  If I can run across one of those threads, I'll point you to it.

Can we do a "Repair" from the Studio install disk?

With this No Disc writer problem.......I can't  "Create disc content but don't burn" to HD. Studio won't do anything when I click on the folder to chose which HD I want to use nor does it do anything when I click on "Create  Image". I can create Mpeg2 though.

Also I wanted to add that before I uninstalled "Instant DVD" it did recognize my DVD writers!  

As I recall, most of the cures involve complete uninstallation of all earlier Studio stuff and THEN re-installing S11.  In some cases, though, the registry may have become messed up which complicates things.

Same problem here.  I have both a HP and a Plextor drive so it can't be the drives.

Pinnacle said unload Nero which I did, but I don't see why we should have to do that to cure there software problems.  Mind you it did not solve the problem anyway.

I feel Pinnacle should be doing something about this and not blaming other peoples drivers and software, although it does seem to be the thing with software suppliers.  Don't fix it just blame the rest of the kit!

 

I've had the same issue. Sent Pinnacle a copy of the Belarc file and waiting for a repsonse. My dvd info is below:

I am new to the forum, but i sympathize with all of you.  I have 2 burners NEC 1100A and a TTS and i have done everything that live tech help has asked as well as the book.  All my firmware is updated and my system is more than compatable with Studio Ultimate.

 I have even uninstalled the software and used the tool that pinnacle has to remove all files from the registry.  Still, to no avail.  I recently e-mailed pinnacle and went nuts because there is no other thing i can possibly do to fix this issue other than go to the Better Business B. and talk to someone in a legal capacity. 

I am tired of being pulled back and forth trying to fix an issue that is there issue.  Everything works great on my computer except it CANT FIND THE BURNER!!!

 So, anyway, I am glad to see that I am not alone in this struggle. 

Hello, I HAD the same problem. Yesterday i decided to go back to PS 10 but....

1. I deinstalled  PS 11 (tried the lower/upper filters first but that didnt do the trick

2. Reboot 

3. I reinstalled PS 10.5 and upgraded to 10.7

3.  Reboot

4. Then i installed PS 11 without InstandDVD ect, just plain PS11. (and NOT removing PS 10.7!!)

5. After that i did NOT reboot the computer. PS 11 was complainirng that i didnt rebooted my computer but i ignored that message. Then..... my burner was working perfectly!! (even after reboot)

 

Hope this helps to get things permently fixed
 

@placebo, very good, your solution is also working for me on Vista Ultimate, but instead 10.5 I have used 10.0 with 10.7

Because I do not have version 10.5, but also working, thanks.

 

P.S. You have to ignore the Vista messages with installing 10.0

As mentionned by Warren before, our developers are working on this issue (DVD burner not detected by Studio 11). It seems that we will have a fix for this within a couple of days. I don't know yet the exact way we will deliver this fix, with a new general software patch, or through a service patch (small one just addressing the issue). We will update this thread when the fi will be available.

I tried uninstalling 11 and just re-installing 11 but no joy! 

I've got the same issue.  Using Samsung SH-S182D drives.  Version 10.x worked fine!

Just to chip in with a Me Too -

The Sony SOSW 833S on my XP laptop isn't found by S11+, and the Make Image doesn't do anything. Am I correct that there is a patch being prepared to cover this case?

We have a service patch for this burner not available issue. Will go live on our site on Sunday or Monday.

 Will the patch also address the issue with "Create Image...", where the "Available" and "Used" disc space is always at 0 and clicking the "Create Image" button does not bring up the dialog to select the path or create the image?  It sounds like most of us would be able to get by with the "missing burner" if we could get the image out of Studio, ISO or the TS_Video folder.

 

For this issue, i looked at other threads and tried the suggestions with no luck
