Pinnacle Studio 17.6 impossible .MP4 export.

I'm having issues with a video only 45 mins long. it gets to 98% export and just stops. I've tried the new patch 17.6, the 4 gig mod and other various setting in the export menu but the program will not go past this barrier. APPLE Hi DEf Export .MP4 or even the HD  H.264 MPEG/.MP4 both do the same thing. However if I break up my film on the export screen and a size selected just under 2 gig as the ESTIMATED file size as indicated on the export screen it will render. But then I end up with 2 files as I have to render the remaining part of the film. I can't explain to you just how frustrating this is. Been at this now for 2 straight days trying to render my project out. I must be able to render out the entire project no matter how long it is. 2Hrs is the longest I suspect any of my projects will ever be, but 3 hours to be safe. I have loads of HD space and a fast PC. I'm sorry if I posted a similar post as a reply but the situation for me is critical. Unable to finish my work project.

    Win 7 UL 64bit

    6 GIG Ram

Update Just tried to render 26 minutes and it died with 99% complete. Go figure. Please fix this....

There are a number of possible causes to a render hanging just as you get to the end.  There are a couple of FAQs here and here that you should look at.

Also, are you rendering to a default location or your OS drive?   If not, how long is the path to the render file location?  Sometimes, a long path can cause problems.  Conversely, a render to the Root drive can also cause problems.  Also, does the path or name of the file contain any non-standard letters or symbols?

Re: Pinnacle Studio 17.6 impossible .MP4 export.

The file name was carshow.MP4. 43:45 seconds long. Consistently froze at 98%. Tried rendering the project to a shorter lengths had some success but ended up with 2 files out of sync of course. Rendered to a different drive, not the OS drive or the Project drive. A separate hard drive for the export. Since I'm a Music/Movie producer I have to have this separation between the OS, Installed apps and final products on the main PC. No the file doesn't contain non-standard letter or symbols. I tried to render the project by looking for a spot along the time line in which I could have it render to a point during a transition. Thereby allowing my project to render the remaining part with no loss of continuity of the project, meaning losing sync with the project. That attempt failed as the render failed to finish not at the expected 98% (estimates file size 2.5 GIG) it's been giving me, but at 70% this time with only a 23 minute chunk of the project with an estimated file size of 1.2 GIG. It failed during a transition. A transition that rendered every time before when the whole project would render to 98%. I attempted to the export again with the same setting and it rendered to 98% and died again. So it's hit a miss but one thing is sure anything bigger than 2 gig as the estimated file size, no go. Like I mentioned I was able to render out 2 files but both were considerably smaller than 2 gig. Even so some of those renders during testing also failed.

That being said the inconsistencies with exporting within Pinnacle are so bad that even after 2 full days of testing I was forced to take the 2 parts I managed to get rendered be it out of sync with each other, load them into Sony Vegas 13 and it rendered it perfectly the first time through. From a business standpoint I must be able to export consistently and the FAQ link you sent , please pardon the phrase, stinks of serious problems with the program if these measures outlined in the FAQ are steps to get the program working. I'm not here to slam Pinnacle, I've been using it for other projects on and off for years and I like the work flow and the Sonic fire part of it, in which I have invested a great deal of money, and even so there were some bugs, but as of late the investment has not met the expectations advertised. Everything seems to work except the export.

There was nothing fancy about this project, some text (created with pinnacle) on a blank background at the start and finish, simple cross dissolves, Video was from >mp4 format 1080p@60FPS from Panasonic V750K and 1080P@60FPS .mov from Go Pro Hero 3+ and that was it. The Apple Iphone 5 HD export under device export, the stand alone file export for HD 1080p both in .MP4 format made no difference in the export failures.

At this pint it's so unreliable I can't imagine using it for my business much further unless serious attention is made to stabilize the export .MP4 process.

    I hope this information Helps.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 17.6 impossible .MP4 export.

Some of these failure to render issues have been fixed by patches.  If your project was started with a version prior to installing the 17.6 patch, I would suggest doing a Save As and giving the project a new name before rendering.

(And I wouldn't recommend that anyone rely upon a $100 piece of consumer software for the success of a business.  Wink )

Ok I'll give that a try because the project was started with 17.5

Re: Pinnacle Studio 17.6 impossible .MP4 export.

I wanted too mention, I noticed that under "Device" export the iPhone 5 HD .MP4 @version 17.5 would give the option of 1920x1080p@8000kbits/s . I rendered several videos with this I must say Is was awesome to have this high res Apple format because i was able to upload to my iPad\.iPhone, iPod with that resolution. It seemed perfectly suited to the 60FPS outputs from my Go Pro and my New 2014 Panasonic V750k Camcorder. Now since the 17,6 patch this option is no longer available, only the old standards 1280 by 760 I think @ 8000k/s The standard for ipad 2 video. Why ditch that awesome Apple support RES? It makes no sense.

I took the video slice that seemed to stop the render at 98% and re-rendered it to another format, pasted it in there and I'm now I'm just rendering the project now to see if that was culprit. I'll report back. That fix was suggested in the FAQ link you sent. So we'll see.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 17.6 impossible .MP4 export.

I can confirm through testing the issue with exporting large 1.5 gig or larger (so far) .MP4 formats is associated with dissolve/any transitions. End of story.
