    Vimeo Export

Is there any clue as to when the sign-in error will be addressed with Vimeo? Whenever you try to export to Vimeo, it will always tell you the username or password is invalid.  I sign into my Vimeo account all the time.  There is no doubt the sign-in information is not correct.  I was hoping patch 17.2 would address this issue but it appears that is not the case. I am paying Vimeo to upload videos.  It would be nice to actually use the service.

Are you attempting to export from within PS ??

If true, what possible advantage is there doing that way -- versus doing as everyone else does it -- using a web browser that does not tie up PS during the export procedure...

    Re: Vimeo Export

You seem to be first person to report this here, have you reported elsewhere? Obviously if Pinnacle don't know about the problem they can't fix it Wink

I can confirm it's happening to me - I can't recall when I last used auto upload because if you do it manually, you can carry on editing while the upload happens. Also PS17 makes a lowish bitrate mp4 file and I'm not convinced I'm getting the best quality by using the auto upload to Vimeo - YouTube perhaps, but not Vimeo.

If you can confirm that you haven't reported this I'll do it.

    Re: Vimeo Export

    Hi,

We are working on the issue with Vimeo support.  Perhaps the reason the issue isn't widely reported is that Vimeo isn't as popularly used as the other providers in our Cloud export.  In any case, it's been broken for couple weeks now - end of last week we had to pause our investigation on it to get the 17.2 patch out.  The good news, is that the fix is server-side - completely outside of Studio.  Actually I suppose that has a shade of bad news, too - don't expect the 17.2 patch to fix it.  But when we do fix it, it won't require another patch.

For the time being, please export with Studio to file, and use Vimeo.com to upload.  Now that the patch is out we have resumed work on this and hope to have it resolved soon.

    Re: Vimeo Export

Thank you and I look forward to the issue being resolved. If anyone has suggestions for another site that allows for HD quality videos to be posted, I'd be much appreciated. As you can tell, I use my Pinnacle Studio to make and upload videos of whitewater kayak adventures.  With the whitewater, nothing works like HD to capture the flowing rapids. Thanks, again!!

    Re: Vimeo Export

Thanks. Yeah this is  the first time I reported it. I upgraded from Pinnacle 16, so I knew it was a "bug" issue.  I was just waiting for patch to resolve it. It appears that a patch is in the works. I usually auto-upload cause when I'm done with video, I just load and walk away. So are you saying I'd get better quality uploads if I bypassed the auto-upload.

    Thanks for the advice.

You might get better quality. If you are shooting 1080p then Vimeo recommends up to 20Mbps, and PS only makes a 12Mbps MP4 file. (for 720p it's 10 and 6Mbps).Try making a Transport Stream (MTS) file, which will have double the bitrate (and therefore twice the upload time). Then compare the two uploads. Much will depend on the content.
