Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

    VideoMike123:

I've attached a screen shot of my S12 Video Effects and Show Premium Content is selected

That Screenshot shows that S10 Bonus Content hasn't in fact been Installed into S12. Run  S12 Transfer Wizard again from Section 2. Not Section 1.

S10 & S12 are several years-old now, so nothing that's been Posted re; Transferring Content from S10 to S12 is new information.. I can only assume that when you purchased S12, you never Ran S12 Content Transfer Wizard & have managed to do without S10 Content. And /or never Installed S10 Bonus Content DVD when you purchased it.?,

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

Here is what you get with the previous Studio versions purchased.

I searched on ebay the titanium editions and only found the 10.5 version and one for educational version. Which version do you have?

You may also want to read this and this and this and this.

Maybe someday I will post a video on how to install Studio 10.0 in Windows 7 (just for instructional use only) followed by  upgrade steps with either Studio 11 or 12.

Note: I don't have the 10.5 version due to that I got this program when first released. You can just upgrade it with the latest patches available.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

I've got to go away now for the weekend but when I get back I'll study your further comments. In the meantime I'll just add the following:-

    1. My Srudio 10+ Titamium edition is 10.5.1

    2. It came with 3 disks, 2 programme disks and 1 Bonus DVD

    3. The Bonus content was paid for and is therefore operable without further payment.

     4. The programme I installed via the website was also the Titanium Edition with Bonus Content but when I did trhe install I didn't download the Bonus part based on previous advice. I had been told to do that later.

    5. The S12 Transfer wizard simply won't let me run section 2 whcih allows transfer from disks. Both sections open with the same page but once it recognises all installed content has been transferred it should switch to the second page in section 2 but in my case it doesn't it just keeps going round in circles with section 1

I'm seriously thinking of doing another system restore/RegDelete to before S10, then doing a full S10 TE install again from the download complete with the Bonus Content this time (but without IDVDR and MM). Then I'll install S12 and do a Transfer. That way I should get the Bonus content and avoid this problem.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

Thanks to one of Ramon’s links I think I’ve finally managed to install and transfer my S10+ TE Bonus Disk and transfer it to S12.

The method involved transferring the Bonus Contents to a file on the desktop and opening and installing it from there via the XP Compatibility method. When I then used the S12 Transfer process it spent some time transferring it and I now have many more effects.

Via one of Ramon’s links I also found a workaround to get S12 to recognise my Hollywood FX Plus – http://corel.force.com/index/articles/en_US/Master_Article/Hollywood-FX-Plus-Pro-Mega-in-Studio-12-and-14. But that doesn’t seem to have worked successfully. The programme is definitely there in the Pinnacle programme folder (SS below) but I can’t see any of the transitions in the S12 drop down list.

I was able to follow the 2nd and 3rd options given in Item 6 to enter the serial number again (I’d already done that once when I first installed it) and each time it said that I’d unlocked it, but the effects still don’t show in S12. I had difficulty following the 1st option because W7 doesn’t seem to operate that way. If anyone can advise then I’ll try it. The suggested route was:-

Open Explorer and go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Pinnacle\Content\HollywoodFX\ and double-click on HfxSerial.exe

But I’ve definitely moved forward and got many more effects than before so if I can’t get HFX+ then I’ll manage with what I’ve got.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

If you can see all transitions in Studio 10 but not in either S12 or S14, what you can do is just look for them in your computer and manually install it either in Studio 12 or 14. Be very careful when doing this because one simple error can cause some problems in either version.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

Although I can open HFX+ and even modify the transitions there (see below) I can't see them in S10 or S12 and if there are potential risks I don't feel confident enough to try doing a manual install.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

I am not quite sure but it seems it was an update patch you installed for your graphic card. I have read in several forums in here about issues with the Nvidia updates. You may want to try to install a previous version to see if it works again. The patch I have with my card is 310.90. If you cannot find this download you can try to install the original download from your disc that came with your graphic card. (you need to uninstall the one you have before doing this).

P.S. : I am also not sure if the Studio 10 or S12 patch may also help with this problem.

Well - I 've Posted that I'd leave the Forum.

However, since you've got this far it would be a shame to leave you in the lurch.

I had difficulty following the 1st option because W7 doesn’t seem to operate that way. If anyone can advise then I’ll try it. The suggested route was:-

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

I'd be really sorry to see you go, you've been such a help. I hope I've not been such a drain on your time that it's caused your decision.

I've tried that route but I don't see HFX+. I've attached a screen shot below of the same path on my PC.

Ramon, I really don't think it can be a problem with my graphics card, and I don't see how that can affect my ability to even see or open my HFX+ effects. As you know, this is a brand new computer and according to Colour it has a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) which is embedded within my Intel Haswell CPU. Also, I haven't changed any drivers.I can see the programme in add/remove programmes and even open it to modify transitions, I just can't access it via S10 or S12.

The Content shown in your Screenshot is the Content Transferred to S12, via S12 Content Transfer Wizard. It looks like HFX hasn't Transferred.

I need to look at Ramon's excellently found Yes Link re; Transferring HFX, again.

ADDED - Try the alternative File Path in my Screenshot:

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

I've tried that and other methods without any obvious result, but I've just gone through all the effects available in S12 again and I'm not 100% sure but I think I can see some of the HFX+ transitions there although there is no sub-heading of HFX+. I can only imagine that they may have been integrated into the other available transitions.Anyway, I've decided I have enough for the years to come now.

Unfortunately, I've come across another problem. When I leave my computer for any length of time I've started to put it in 'Sleep' mode to save energy, but when I restart it S12 is still there but I can't see anyhting in the viewing window, just a green screen. It's the same if I try to play anything from the library or the timeline. I never used 'Sleep' on my XP PC, I just switched off the monitor so I don't know if the same would have happened there.

See Screenshots 1 & 2. These are the recommended Settings for Video editing.

And Disable any Screensaver while Editing. Re-Enable it after you've closed Studio.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

I've checked my settings and they're exactly the same as yours. Also, I've never had a screen saver set.

I've been switching this PC to 'Sleep' manually when I leave it for any lengtth of time to save electricity. I've always switched my PC on first thing in the morning and off last thing at night. On my old PC I just switched the monitor off when I left it, but with the new PC I've been manually setting it to 'Sleep' instead. After I posted my last message I set it to 'sleep' again but when I came back I received a message that Studio had shut down.

If 'Sleep' affects Studio I won't use it when I've got it open in future, or I'll close Studio first and re-open it after I restart the computer.

Re: ADVICE WANTED FOR NEW W7 PC FOR S12

Following on from my previous post, am I right in assuming that the 'Sleep' function causes problems with Studio and that I don't have yet another problem with Studio itself? If so, it's easy enough for me to avoid using it when I have Studio running.
