mini Capture tool that can be used to capture multiple live simultaneously from Firewire. So I can film live events and then swap drives and be able to use it in nex gen and/or Liquid and not have to recapture it.

I would like to see NxtGen be the best editor to work w/ Convergent Designs new Flash XDR format...

MPEG2 4:2:2 full raster, Long GOP up to 100 Mbps, uncompressed 10 bit, 24 bit audio, ...etc, whatever else fits the format.

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

    • Clip editors should start with no key frame (currently it gives one at start and one at end of Clip) so that you don’t need to have "don’t use key frame" check box.
    • Global output audio tool should be like in mc attached to interface body.
    • Do not create index file, if it must, it should do it in another folder, not in folder where Your import material is.
    • Program shut down take too long not good
    • Title deko should have timeline animation and animation per character, 3D act. (FCP gives this. Deko has these features for years but they don’t give, deko sell these goodies just to Broadcasters, not good.
    • Performance when you hit play it should leave every calculation and just play, play should be First priority like mc
    • In classic mode minimize is different, this is not good, minimize is minimize like any windows Or programs, and minimize should have a keyboard short cut, (The aim is every function should have Keyboard shortcut).
    • Single export button with my preset video (don’t need to go million of setting each time)
    • Interface color change should does it the way after effect CS3 does
    • Lots of lots plug INS support

ability to highlight unlimited number of clips and apply filters to all selected instead of adding filters one at a time.  Also to be able to do this with transition effects.

Sorry if this was already mentioned but I didn't want to read through 8 pages of requests.

    William Azevedo:
and please, take track selection out of the undo/redo list. it's just annoying, there's nothing useful un undoing a track selection.

    I agree.

I also don't like the new four point editing style where timewarps are added if four in- and outpoints exist when I make an edit. Just use the in points and the shortest duration, thank you!

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

Sorry, but I would disagree with this. If you don't want the timewarp applied, do a three point edit. I will fight to keep this feature. This is how four point editing works in all professional NLE's. You should not be doing four point edits unless you need fill to fit applied.

Lew can you explain this a little bit better?

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

What is there to explain? When you do a four point edit (mark in/out on clip and mark in/out on timeline) then Liquid applies a timewarp to make the marked clip fit the marked range either by slowing it down or speeding it up as required. If you don't want that to happen then don't do a four point edit. There is no other reason to do a four point edit unless you want the clip fit into the marked timeline range and that almost always requires a timewarp to be applied. THIS IS A GREAT FEATURE and MUST be retained in future releases along with the ability to do back-timed three point edits.

Got it.It's just that I never work like that anyway. Thanks.

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

Thanks for the explanation, Lew.  I have never done a four point edit but this sounds like a great way to apply a timewarp for a specific purpose.  Using the timewarp FX is sometimes kind of dicey.

How about making it optional. I have never needed to make a timewarp this way. But I have had to undo a lot of edits because I've forgotten to delete an old outpoint on the source.

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

This is one of the bad things working the way MC does.

I mean I never understood the mark in and out and send to timeline.

Drag it where you need and then trim it on timeline.

It's faster. Unless you are working on MC.

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

Well if you need several parts from the same source clip the method is pretty fast. Just press play and the I for in, O for out and B to put the clip on the timeline - and the H to focus the player window again. Repeat. You don't even need to place a mark in on the timeline. The clips will be inserted where the time marker is.

And if you need a clip to fill a specific space on the timeline the three point method is IMHO the fastest.

I like being able to edit with the keyboard too so I don't have to grab the mouse all the time.

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

I tested this out in my "Learning by Doing" project and it is cool.  I squeezed a 15sec clip down to 10sec and it was much easier than using the timewarp FX editor.  Jazzed the clip up just the right amount.  I will definitely be using this tool in the future.

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

I do agree that an improvement in the media management would be a real bonus.

When working on two or more projects at a time, unless great care is taken to change the setting in the control panel each time you move to another project, the files for one project get mixed up with other projects. It is quite easy to get mixed up and later delete one of the projects while still working on one of the others and you end up with loads of red slices on the timeline.

How about making one of the things to set up when starting a new project is the disc location of the folders that will be used for the data and rendering. That way when changing projects, everything stays in the correct place.

Another feature I would like to see is an all singing and dancing DVD authoring package. One that does everything you can do with a DVD and does it well. I would be prepared to pay for this as an extra program or plugin that integrates with the Liquid timeline. The present DVD authoring leaves a lot to be desired, especially the annoying complete loss of all navigation settings if you change anything at all, which needs to be addressed.

I've come in late on this one and I don't want to trawl through all the pages of suggestions, so apologies if this is already covered.

I do not know if these have been requested. Apologies if they have.

    • Built-in high quality intermediate codec (perhaps a version of Avid's DNxHD) for high performance editing of 1920*1080 avchd files
    • Log and transfer tool similar to FCS2 whereby avchd files are selected transferred and converted to the high quality intermediate codec.
    • ability to output avchd to SDHC cards for archive

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

    Hi folks,

I have not been on for a long time.  It is my absolute sincere desire to see that the 2d and 3d cpu editors be fixed and presereved.  This is with out question the best motion tool in any editor on the market.  I'm not sure that Pinnacle even recognizes this.

Having said all this, can someone point me to a thread that may discuss the future of Liquid Edition?  Or provide a brief explaination of the NEW NLE?

     Thanks,

     Andre

Re: Features That You Would Like New or Old to be in the NEW NLE

Andre this is ESP Extra sensory perseption. Wow I was just thinking about this and came here to put it in. I agree, leave the 2D and 3D editors in. I use this in every project. It is not a cool tool but a must. As for fixed, I do not recall any problems from my end in the way I use it, so I wouldn't know what need to be fixed. There are so many ways how one uses a tool and that is great. I understand that everyone has his/her own ways so yes if there are any improvements in this tol, than I welcome it with open arms.
