Answer is yes, and most expert in the Forum will advise you not to removed previous version.

    Re: Install Studio 14

    A word to the wise.

If you open a project from a previous version ( 9 or 11 ) in the new version ( 14 ), you might not be able to properly open the project again in with the previous version. 14 is supposed to create a backup, but for some reason the backup isn't fully created properly.

If you have a tendency to open projects by clicking on the .stx icon, the projects will automatically open in S14. If that happens, you should read the above paragraph for my next statement.

Unless you keep a record of what version a project was started in, you won't be able to rely on the .stx icon to tell you what version it came from. Even though the icons of S11 and S14 are a bit different, when you install S14 the new icon will automatically be applied the that type of file.

Back when I was using S14, I started naming my projects with either s12 or s14 in the saved name. That way I could visually see what version it was started in.

If it were me, I would finish the projects in the version they were started in. OR for backup purposes :

Open your projects in the version they were created in, do a file/save as, and put the version number it was created in ( S9, S11, S14 ) in the name. Sorry if it sounds like I'm harping, but it might save you from scratching your head in the future.

You mentioned keeping the older versions as a stable backup, well........again........a word to the wise..........................Wink
